Position Overview
The Technical Assistant will work closely with engineers, project managers and key stakeholders to support technical workflows, project tracking and administration necessary to facilitate the smooth running of the organisation.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in engineering and technology and be comfortable undertaking a variety of tasks to support the team. Excellent communication and organisational skills will be essential, along with a drive to work in a fast-paced, high-performance, start-up environment.
Key Responsibilities
Team Support:
- Provide day-to-day administrative support, including scheduling meetings, managing communications, and coordinating team activities.
- Support coordination of leadership activities and calendars
Presentation and Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation of technical presentations, reports, and documentation using Microsoft Office and other software tools.
- Utilise Power BI to create visual reports and dashboards for internal and client-facing presentations.
File Management:
- Update and maintain SharePoint sites and files, ensuring information is current, organised, and easily accessible.
- Collaborate with team members to enhance SharePoint functionality and implement best practices for document management.
Research and Analysis:
- Conduct research on industry trends, emerging technologies and relevant projects as required by the team.
- Summarise findings and present recommendations to the team, contributing to project planning and decision-making.
Project Support:
- Assist in various project tasks as required, including tracking project timelines, supporting coordination efforts, and ensuring deliverables are met.
- Collaborate with engineers and consultants to support technical workstreams, providing background information and analysis .
Preferred Candidate Profile:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Prior experience in a support role ideally in an engineering or technical environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organisation; this includes written and verbal communication as well as visualisations.
- Team player, able to work effectively at all levels of an organisation with the ability to influence others to move toward alignment.
- Able to work autonomously.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritise competing demands and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Ability to adapt to changes quickly, capable to pivot and focus on competing initiatives, as well as manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Calm under pressure, able to make quick and rational decisions, deliver through ambiguity, while maintaining the project priorities of the team.
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Proficiency in project management software tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to quickly learn new tools and software.
- A passion for technology and innovation.
