HSE Advisor – Offshore (2/2 Rotation, Night & Day Shifts)

Location: North Sea

Rotation: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off (Night shift for the 1st week, Day shift for the 2nd week)

Contract: Minimum 5 trips, until February 2025

Job Purpose

As the HSE Advisor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the Platform remains compliant with HSE legislation and Harbour Energy's internal policies. You will engage with the offshore workforce to promote a culture of safety, ensuring that safety procedures are followed, incidents are investigated, and best practices are consistently applied.


Key Responsibilities

  • HSE Compliance: Support the Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) in maintaining compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Safety Leadership: Actively engage with the offshore workforce to foster a strong safety culture, ensuring Harbour Energy's safety expectations are fully understood and practiced.
  • Incident Management: Ensure all incidents and safety events are accurately recorded, investigated, and closed out effectively.
  • Risk Management: Implement pragmatic risk management solutions to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Audit Participation: Lead and participate in audits, ensuring that all safety programs are reviewed and compliant with corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Training & Development: Lead the delivery of HSE training and safety programs, including Learning Organisation initiatives, Personal Safety Involvement, Life Saving Rules, Safety Focus Days, and Management Safety Reviews.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Work closely with the Environmental and Occupational Hygiene Advisors to ensure all relevant legislative requirements are met.
  • Incident Investigation Support: Monitor the quality and accuracy of incident investigations, providing support where necessary and identifying trends for continuous improvement.
  • Emergency Response: Participate in emergency response activities as required.
  • Offshore Safety Representative Focal Point: Act as the primary point of communication for offshore safety representatives, supporting their efforts in maintaining a safe work environment.


Qualifications & Experience

  • NEBOSH Diploma / BOHS Dip OH (or equivalent qualifications) – Preferable.
  • Professional Membership: A corporate member of a relevant professional body requiring Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • System Knowledge: Proficiency in HSES systems, including Synergi and COMET.
  • Risk Management Expertise: Strong knowledge of risk assessment and risk management processes.
  • Process Safety: Understanding of process plant hazards at both an individual and plant level.
  • Offshore Certification: Must hold valid UK offshore certification (BOSIET, MIST, OGUK Medical, etc.).
  • Major Accident Prevention: Experience in identifying and implementing improvements for accident prevention.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach, engage, and build trust with offshore personnel.
