Purpose of your Role


Solution Architects work closely with Opportunity Leads, who own the overall client relationship, with bid management as well as with legal and commercial topics. Therefore, this role requires a strong mix of deal shaping & content expertise. Solution Architects need to be generalists. They need to strive to get agreement on the solution with the client buying team, Tata Communications (TC) Service delivery and Service Assurance organization, Product Management units, and the commercial teams. The client and Opportunity lead & commercial team will usually push for a lower-cost solution, to increase margin and/or lower total price. The delivery organization will typically tend to include more contingency and a more conservative solution.


It is an integral part of their responsibility to own, manage, and ensure the quality of client-facing content that presents the solution. This includes proposal material, proposal orals, meeting notes, workshop artefacts and presentations, due diligence content, Q&A content, etc. It includes the written documents along with the oral presentation of content also including the solution and delivery team.


Solution Architects work with our global delivery teams across the various towers and locations and the senior leadership of the delivery function to ensure proper specification and deliverability of the solution and manage the according review and approval process.


Overall, Solution Architects need to shape a winning differentiated solution taking the different points of view into account, for the deals they are personally working on, and for those they are coordinating, and ensure they are approved internally.

You will be accountable for


Drive Lead large and complex transformation Opportunities

The responsibility includes defining, estimating and planning the transformation and operation of the solution, service level agreements, tools and automation solution, the delivery team and structure, governance and locations, partner delivered services (such as data center and public cloud, or field support), and any other cost component or driver of the solution.


Improve Service maturity frameworks

This is a leadership role and is also required to develop the Solution Architecture Capability for Managed Services, including service transition Frameworks and Service Tooling. Work with the Product and Sales Operations teams to make sure the service-packs are articulated properly and available in the order management systems and tracked.


Establish Consulting practice:

Work towards establishing a Technology Consulting Services practice within the Global Solution Engineering organization. Leading a virtual team of Technology Consultants who will be delivering short-term high value consulting assignments to chosen set of customers, and ensure that TC maintains a good bench of such consulting skills.


Team building and management

Leading a team of large deal architects (circa 10) spread across continents and will be responsible for grooming and mentoring them, and making sure their training and development needs are taken care of.


You have


The right candidate should have strong solution content and are ‘enablers’ and facilitators who can drive a client and TC team to conclude on a solution beneficial for both Client and TC. They are preferably eager individuals combining commercial and content skills.


  • Over 15 years of relevant work experience in the solution domains.
  • Bachelor or Master-level (preferred) University degree.
  • Experience in architecting transformation and/or operations solutions in at least one of the “Pillars”, with a proven track record (wins) in defining and selling design, implementation and transformation solutions for leading global enterprises with a deal value of over 10 million USD.
  • Experience in products and solution domains, ideally with one or more formal certifications.
  • Strong project management skills and associated experience in Information Technology Engineering and Outsourcing (including experience with industry-standard project management methods and tools)
  • Understanding and experience of working with a diverse and globally distributed teams and customers.
  • International experience of working in (and working with) customers and colleagues in multiple Countries and Geographies
  • Awareness on the below skills is good to have –
  • Service Frameworks like ITSM (including ITOM, ITAM), IT4IT, AIOPs etc. including tooling platforms like Servicenow.
  • Project Management and Governance Frameworks like PMI, Prince2 etc.
  • Connectivity Services – Network Underlay and Overlay
  • Cloud Infrastructure – Managed Hosting, Hybrid Cloud and Platform Solutions
  • Managed Security – Firewalls, SSE, SOC, SIEM etc.
