The purpose of this role:

The People Manager will lead the People business area of OCO West End Limited, during an exciting period of growth for the company. They will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of all aspects of people operations including employee relations, talent acquisition, performance management and partner development. Reporting to the Managing Director, the People Manager will be part of the leadership team and be expected to develop and implement successful strategies to improve and develop partner engagement to deliver great service to our customers.


The job you will do :

1) Employee relations - Serve as a trusted advisor to partners, operations managers and head office managers/leadership team, providing expert advice on the application of our people policies ensuring compliance with legislation and good practice and develop local policy where appropriate. Where required, to facilitate or mediate in conflict resolution and promote a culture of open communication, trust and collaboration.

2) Performance Management – Partner with the business to develop and implement a performance management model to effectively evaluate employee performance, resolve performance issues and support partner development.

3) Talent acquisition and retention – Lead recruitment activity alongside the business to attract and retain top talent in the hospitality industry and develop OCO West End Limited as an employer of choice

4) Training and Development – Work with the business leads to identify training needs and to develop or source training programmes that address skills gaps, enhance knowledge and develop skills with the ultimate goal of continually improving our in-store operations.

5) Organisational Risk – Stay up-to-date on relevant employment laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with all partner data legal requirements. Ensure the business is not exposed to any undue risks and take steps to remove or minimise risks on an ongoing basis.

6) HR metrics and reporting – Regularly report key people data analysis and KPIs to the rest of the leadership team.

7) Employee communications – Develop strategies to enhance partner engagement and promote a thriving positive workplace culture throughout the business


The experience you will need:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an HR business partner or mid level Manager role, preferably with experience within the hospitality sector
  • MCIPD Qualified - or relevant and demonstrable experience to the same level
  • Be able to demonstrate policy development, including assurance and compliance experience.
  • Experience in building a people management toolkit to ensure consistency in approach and drive capability throughout the operations teams.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team and a willingness to be involved in ‘doing the do’ and this will require the People Manager to have a high level of accountability.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with the capability to build and maintain strong relationships with key business stakeholders including the leadership team.
  • Ability to take complex concepts and convey them to all levels of the business in a clear and precise way.
  • Demonstrable experience in delivering people training programmes
  • Ability to put a continuous improvement lens on existing practices, procedures and processes to meet best practice and contribute to the smooth running of the business.
  • Strong professionalism and integrity given the confidential nature of the role


How we work:

  • Travel to stores across Scotland required, including occasional overnight stays if business critical
  • This role is not a home based role.
  • Part time or full time applicants will be considered though a minimum of 4 days per week is expected.
