Events Manager
Orbex is seeking a dynamic and experienced Events Manager to join our Marketing team on full time and permanent basis. You will play a crucial role in promoting Orbex’s brand, engaging stakeholders, and enhancing public awareness of our mission and achievements.
The role offers you a unique opportunity to be part of Orbex’s exciting journey to launch
Orbex
Orbex is a leading micro-launch company with our Prime vehicle being prepared to launch from our home spaceport, Sutherland Spaceport. We are well placed to be one of the first operational micro-launch companies in Europe with over £103m of project financing secured, a number of customers signed up, our launch licence application submitted, and backing from organisations including UKSA and ESA.
We are a rapidly growing company with staff located between our production and test facilities in Forres, Scotland and Copenhagen, Denmark. Working on cutting-edge advances in rocket fuel technology, Prime’s carbon footprint is up to 96% lower than comparable vehicles, leading to innovations in propulsion and tank structures. A state-of-the-art re-flight system means we can recover and reuse our technology, and innovations in separation mechanisms mean we leave no debris in space.
Having developed in-house production capability, we can 3D print complex engines, produce full-scale carbon composite fuel tanks, and have avionics and software testing labs in both Scotland and Denmark. Based in Forres, you will be right in the heart of this fast-paced cutting-edge company, gaining a unique insight into what it takes to build a new launch vehicle for a buoyant commercial market.
Orbex is an Equal Opportunity Employer and is working towards a more diverse workforce in the aerospace industry.
Responsibilities
As Events Manager you will be responsible for planning, organising, and delivering a wide range of events including trade events, visits, open days, launch-related events, internal team member events, and outreach initiatives.
These events form a key part of the marketing strategy and plan to ensure we continue to raise awareness and share the Orbex story with a range of different audiences.
Your role will include a range of tasks and responsibilities, amongst which you will:
- Plan and execute Orbex's participation in trade shows, conferences, and launch-related events, ensuring alignment with business objectives and seamless execution of logistics, including booth design and staffing
- Work closely with the marketing and PR teams in relation to media communications and public outreach
- Develop and manage outreach events targeting schools, universities, and educational institutions, creating outreach materials, evaluating initiative impacts, and reporting outcomes to engage and inspire the next generation
- Manage visits for VIPs, including government officials and key customers, by developing detailed itineraries and coordinating with security, health & safety, and facilities teams for flawless execution
- Plan and execute public open days and community events, handling logistics such as invitations and programmes while engaging the local community and enhancing public awareness of Orbex’s mission
- Deliver comprehensive visitor management plans for launch events, ensuring a smooth experience for attendees by coordinating with community relations, security, health & safety, and facilities teams
- Collaborate with the Marketing and People teams to plan and deliver internal events focused on team building, recognition, and engagement, ensuring alignment with company culture and objectives
Key Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Event Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
- Proven experience in event planning and management, preferably in the aerospace or technology sectors and/or with experience of delivering large-scale public facing events
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and IT skills including use of Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines
- Experience of managing event budgets and managing supplier contracts
- Proficiency in event management including working with stakeholders and partners including Safety Advisory Groups and Traffic Management Specialists
- Valid UK Driving License with willingness to travel when needed
- Flexibility to travel as required and work outside of regular business hours for events
Desirable Experience:
- Experience with VIP and high-security event planning
- Knowledge of the space industry and technical familiarity with launch operations
- Demonstrated ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, industry partners, and the public
Personality
Orbex is a high-paced, startup culture where you will be encouraged to assume responsibility for tasks and see them through.
It is imperative that you take initiative, communicate openly and can collaborate with technical and non technical team members.
You must be able to thrive in an international, diverse and multicultural environment.
