Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Commercial Director to lead our sales team and drive our business growth in the toy wholesale market. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in sales leadership, and ideally an understanding of the toy industry and wholesale operations. Experience in other relevant industries will also be considered. The Commercial Director will be responsible for managing the sales team, developing and implementing sales strategies, and expanding our customer base both domestically and internationally.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Sales Leadership:
    • Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve company targets and expand our market presence.
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Business Development Managers, providing guidance and support to achieve sales objectives.
    • Set performance targets for the sales team and monitor progress, providing regular feedback and coaching.
  • Business Development:
    • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, including potential customers, markets, and partnerships.
    • Conduct market research to understand customer needs, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, distributors, and partners.
  • Direct Sales:
    • Personally engage in high-level sales activities, including negotiating and closing significant deals.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with major clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
    • Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings.
  • Export Support:
    • Collaborate with the export team to identify and capitalise on international sales opportunities.
    • Assist in developing export strategies, including market entry plans and distribution channels.
    • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and standards.
  • Sales Operations:
    • Oversee the sales pipeline, ensuring timely and accurate forecasting and reporting.
    • Develop and manage the sales budget, including expense control and resource allocation.
    • Implement and optimise sales processes, tools, and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Desired Attributes:

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in sales, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the toy/gift industry or a related wholesale sector.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a sales team, driving performance and achieving targets.
  • Sales Expertise: Strong track record of successful sales achievements, including direct sales and business development.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and implement effective sales strategies that align with company goals.
  • Market Knowledge: Some understanding of the toy/gift industry, market dynamics, and customer needs. This could also be a related industry.
  • Relationship Building: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with customers and partners.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in market research and data analysis.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing market conditions.
  • International Experience: Experience with export sales and knowledge of international trade regulations is desirable.
