About The Role


We are recruiting for a newly created position of Head of Business Development to join our growing team. Reporting to the New Business Development Director, this role will be responsible for building a new client base and relationships in Central Government, to create a consistent recurring revenue stream through long term partnerships.


This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is an established Business Development professional with a strong network in Central Government, and is keen to develop this portfolio in our company, building upon our excellent public sector reputation, and shaping the future of the organisation in this sector.


The professional services to be delivered include:


  • Digital transformation - placing the customer at the heart of the software and digital services to drive better business outcomes
  • Data Transformation - helping organisations release the value in the data the they hold to drive better visibility and outcomes
  • Identity - How to protect and provide seamless experiences for customers
  • Cyber - How to protect customers and organisations from malicious agents in the market


The role will deliver


  • Contacts - a significant number of Central Government contacts with relevant senior roles in the departments
  • Opportunity pre-engagement to build profile, credibility and shape future pipeline
  • Direct awards - strong relationships that allow direct awards to be granted based on our positioning to be the best to deliver as part of a land and expand strategy.
  • Opportunities - Deliver a strong pipeline to enable a revenue stream across our portfolio that is worth : £3m in Year One ; £5m+ in Year Two
  • Commercial management of the contracting process alongside the internal bid and technical teams
  • Long term partnerships through identification of the right departmental partners and opportunities for our company and it’s ambitious growth plans


About the Candidate:


  • Working with Professional Services, Tech or Tech based solutions that have delivered significant value to clients in Central Government
  • Worked, comfortably, across hierarchies in organisations – politically savvy to work with C-suite/Director/Deputy Director as well as a project members/Leads
  • Experience of working in Matrix management/Cross functional style
  • Working with a scale up mentality and understanding of the management of innovation and process driven ways of working
  • Excellent communication skills alongside an extensive established network within Central Government.
  • Track record of solving client problems and delivering on customer needs in the Central Government through tech based solutions ideally delivered through professional services
  • A consultative selling approach to deliver new clients that become long term partners
  • A team player that understands the best way to deliver for new clients is to set the whole engagement up for long term success
  • A translator who can understand the clients needs and communicate these back to the technical internal teams to guide the solutions based selling process, and vice versa.
  • A natural problem solver who manages the process of doing things the right way with the innovate thought needed to succeed in the digital sector
