Fletchers Solicitors Ltd have a fantastic opportunity to join our growing Serious Injury Law Team.

Purpose of Role:

To run a caseload of International injury cases and to assist the head of the team with higher value cases within the Serious Injury Unit. To ensure that matters are progressed in a timely and efficient manner whilst maximising both damages and costs. The successful candidate will be working on a diverse caseload of fast & multi-track international injury cases.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Progress a caseload of international injury files in line with KPI targets
  • Assist the Lead Lawyer in the department on their cases to ensure matters are progressed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Liaising with clients, experts, barristers, third party solicitors/insurers, police and any other relevant parties as directed
  • Involvement in the work that the department does around victim support
  • Dealing with all aspects of pre and post issue procedures in a timely manner as directed
  • Drafting statements of case, witness statements, application notices, pleadings and instructions
  • Preparing accurate and detailed file notes
  • Helping to maintain case plans and case summaries and taking a proactive approach
  • Undertaking telephone negotiations/case management conferences with solicitors/courts as directed
  • Pursue cases to conclusion as directed
  • Attendance at Court, Joint Settlement Meetings, Case Management Conferences and Conferences with or without Counsel. This occasionally requires an overnight stay.
  • Preparation of trial bundles
  • preparing costs instructions sheets and disbursement lists
  • Ensuring excellent levels of client care are maintained

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • The successful candidate should be a Solicitor, Grade B/C or CILEX, or with equivalent non-qualified experience
  • A proven track record of dealing with international injury work is essential, on cases with a value up to £100,000
  • Proven KPI’s in fees recovery, time recording and client care
  • Experienced at dealing with a diverse range of liability scenarios including Package as well as RTAs and Montreal & Athens Convention cases
  • Excellent people and client care skills; a sensitive and professional approach always
  • Experienced in litigation at both County Court and High Court level
  • Sound knowledge of the CPR, litigation process and cost budgeting process
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • A commercial approach to litigation and case progression
  • Willing to commit to achieving results and meeting deadlines
  • Flexible in working hours and able to travel
  • The ability to work in a team and to mentor other team members
  • Good IT skills, especially in respect of Microsoft Office packages. Previous experience of Proclaim is preferable but not essential
  • Able to liaise and work well with other integral teams across the business
  • Excellent time management
  • Willingness to put forward ideas and to engage in brand development, networking events and marketing

Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of pro claim case management system
  • Driving licence
