About the Role:


We are seeking a Senior Advisor (Insurance) with experience in roles as a DEO, CFO or CRO to join an Insurance Supervision directorate to engage in an interesting and impactful project.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide high-level advisory support on significant issues impacting the insurance industry, including climate change, operational risk, and international competitiveness.


Location: London (Hybrid, 40% office attendance)

Working Hours: 9:00am - 5:30pm, Part-time (3 days per week)

Contract Duration: 24 Months (with potential extension)

Inside IR35: Yes


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support policy and supervision colleagues across the PRA, providing independent advice and challenge.
  • Offer guidance to executives on key challenges faced by firms, particularly in the non-life insurance sector.
  • Participate in interview panels for prospective senior managers of PRA-regulated firms.
  • Build and maintain key external relationships to inform the PRA’s work on emerging risks.
  • Advise and support PRA staff in their supervision of individual firms and the wider insurance market.
  • Provide practical insights and solutions to complex issues, influencing strategies to deliver the PRA’s objectives.
  • Handle highly confidential and commercially sensitive information appropriately.


Essential Skills and Criteria:

  1. Extensive experience in the London Market and general insurance sectors with possible overseas exposure.
  2. Proven expertise in senior-level advisory roles within the insurance industry.
  3. In-depth technical insurance knowledge.
  4. Degree-educated, ideally with public sector experience.
  5. Familiarity with prudential supervision and risk management concepts in the insurance sector.
