General We have an exciting opportunity to join Beazley as a Business Manager for our People & Sustainability team on a permanent basis. Job Title: Business Manager – People and Sustainability Division: C&P Reports To: CPO Key Relationships: Chief People Officer and Head of Sustainability, Head of Responsible Business, Head of Business Partnering, Head of Reward, Head of Operations, Head of Social Impact, Head of Internal Communications Job Summary: To provide strategic and operational support to the Chief People Officer in their responsibilities for delivering Beazley's vision of being the highest performing specialist insurer. To support the CPO and the leadership team in leading, managing and development of strategic initiatives designed to develop a function that key stakeholders trust and recognise as best in class. Key Responsibilities: Strategy Work with the Chief People Officer, Senior Leadership Team and their wider teams to develop and implement a strategy to deliver People and Sustainability excellence across Beazley. Provide input into and work closely with the SLT in the preparation and delivery of an annual Business Plan. Monitoring the Teams’ plans throughout the year and ensuring that they are on track. In conjunction with the SLT carry out periodic strategic reviews of Culture and People to ensure we are in line with stakeholder expectation. Work closely with the business as required to understand key business requirements. Undertake analysis as requested by the CPO to identify opportunities to further improve the team delivery. Budget and Planning Manage the budgeting process and centrally coordinate recruitment and headcount allocation. Work with SLT on the resourcing strategy, support to implement and monitor. This includes but it not limited to permanent, contract and outsource provider headcount. Reporting Make optimal use of reports, analyses and observations to align across the teams, reducing repetition and helping to efficiently report to the business. On behalf of the CPO write effective Committee and Board Level updates and participate proactively on Committees when requested on behalf of the CPO. Work with the Executive Assistant to keep a log of actions and recommendations. Operational Support Lead major projects that span across both teams. Ensure that the accountabilities are clear and it is executed effectively and efficiently. Work with the EA to ensure that agreed priorities for the CRO are executed upon. Assist the CPO in facilitating effective decision making and deputising for the CPO as necessary. Work with the EA to plan and execute effective meetings and workshops of the SLT and wider teams in order to review progress against the Business Plan and discuss key strategic and issues. Training and development Periodically review and as necessary make recommendations for the development of the team training curriculum. Ensure that all employees have the knowledge and the skills necessary to perform effectively in their given roles and responsibilities. Beazley Processes and Controls Follow Beazley’s procedures for the selection and retention of 3rd parties and where required manage these relationships to the benefit of Beazley. Build knowledge of Beazley’s processes and requirements, specifically any related to our risk control environment, and act as a centre of excellence for ensuring the wider team is aware of and following correct procedures. Act as the main contact point for all Internal Audit enquiries, allocating tasks as appropriate. Personal Specification: Skills and Abilities Must have the ability to facilitate the transition from conceptual thinking to practical project proposals (quickly and pragmatically) Ability to work on own initiative Ability to work under pressure / to tight deadlines Excellent leadership skills with the ability to influence and work with a team of senior professionals Computer literate Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Able to understand and articulate the strategic "big picture" Attention to detail to ensure work is performed to high quality and accuracy Excellent communication and presentation skills Facilitation and strong administrative/ organisational skills Strong business analysis and problem-solving skills, including business process review toolset Able to work with multi-cultural and multi-location teams and to generate enthusiasm and drive Knowledge and Experience Solid experience of Financial Services Experience of working in an HR Function preferred Experience of project management within a fast moving environment Ability to input into Group strategy Experience of client service management gained within an insurance environment Hands-on experience of team management and people development Experience of implementing process improvement, ideally within a traditional environment Aptitude and Disposition Outcome focused, self-motivated, flexible and enthusiastic High energy and personal drive Achievement orientated Good problem solving skills Purposeful communicator with strong influencing skills
