Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Business Development Professional to join our team within the Life Sciences & Projects sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving new business opportunities, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, and expanding our portfolio of life sciences projects. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the life sciences industry, strong sales acumen, and the ability to navigate complex projects from inception to execution.


Key Responsibilities:


Business Development & Strategy:

  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities within the life sciences sector, focusing on projects related to pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, healthcare, medical devices, and related industries.
  • Create and implement business development strategies to expand the company’s client base, market share, and service offerings in the life sciences industry.
  • Analyse market trends, identify emerging opportunities, and stay ahead of industry developments to recommend growth strategies to senior leadership.


Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with existing and potential clients, including pharmaceutical companies, healthcare providers, research institutions, and biotech firms.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for key accounts, ensuring client satisfaction and identifying opportunities for additional services or project work.
  • Understand client needs, provide tailored solutions, and work closely with the project management and technical teams to ensure successful delivery.


Proposal Development & Presentations:

  • Lead the creation of compelling proposals, RFP responses, and presentations to win new business.
  • Work with internal teams to gather technical and operational input to develop competitive, high-quality proposals.
  • Present business proposals to clients, articulating the company’s value proposition, differentiators, and capabilities.


Project Management Oversight:

  • Support project managers and technical teams in the planning and execution of life sciences projects, ensuring alignment with client expectations and timelines.
  • Monitor the progress of key projects, providing updates to clients and senior management on milestones, deliverables, and performance metrics.
  • Facilitate communication between clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of projects.


Market Intelligence & Reporting:

  • Monitor competitor activities, industry trends, and new regulations affecting the life sciences sector.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to leadership regarding potential strategic partnerships, acquisitions, or new market segments.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales performance, business development activities, and client feedback.


Networking & Industry Representation:

  • Attend industry conferences, seminars, and networking events to build the company’s visibility and attract new business.
  • Cultivate a professional network within the life sciences industry, leveraging connections for potential business opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work closely with marketing, technical, and operational teams to ensure successful business development and project outcomes.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align business development goals with organizational strategy.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales within the life sciences or healthcare industry.
  • Proven track record of securing new business, managing key accounts, and driving growth in a highly competitive sector.
  • Familiarity with the life sciences project lifecycle, from pre-sales through project execution and delivery.


Industry Knowledge:

  • Deep understanding of the life sciences sector, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, and healthcare.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, trends, and challenges within the life sciences industry.


Communication & Negotiation Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to deliver persuasive presentations and proposals.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.


Analytical & Problem-Solving Abilities:

  • Ability to analyse client needs and market data to develop effective business strategies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address complex project or client challenges.


Project Management:

  • Experience in overseeing complex projects with the ability to manage timelines, budgets, and client expectations.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.


Tech-Savvy:

  • Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., Zoho) and business development software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field (advanced degrees are a plus).
  • Experience in international markets or global business development within the life sciences sector.
  • Strong network of industry contacts, including potential clients, partners, and key influencers.
