My Client:

Set in a stunning and historically unique venue in Southeast London, they host a variety of events across several distinct spaces. From weddings and corporate functions to festival like events and private parties, their venue is known for delivering exceptional experiences. With multiple events often happening simultaneously, they pride ourselves on offering seamless event management supported by our in-house catering team. They are seeking a proactive and experienced Deputy Event Operations Manager to help lead their event operations, with a focus on delivering outstanding events and managing catering logistics.

Role Overview:

As the Deputy Event Operations Manager, you will assist in the management of all operational aspects of the venue’s events, ensuring smooth coordination and exceptional delivery. With a strong background in both events and catering, you will play a key role in managing the day-to-day operations, working closely with the catering team, clients, and the operations team to ensure every event runs seamlessly. You will support the Event Operations Manager and act as their deputy when needed, providing leadership, managing logistics, and upholding the high standards of the venue.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Supervise event and catering staff, ensuring all teams are briefed, well-coordinated, and deliver exceptional service.

  • Client Liaison: Act as a point of contact for clients on the day of the event, ensuring all requirements are met and that they are satisfied with the services provided.
  • Multi-Event Management: Oversee the delivery of multiple events happening simultaneously, ensuring each event space is set up and serviced according to client specifications.
  • Logistics Management: Coordinate the setup, breakdown, and movement of event materials, catering equipment, and staff to ensure smooth transitions between events.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all event operations comply with health, safety, and food hygiene regulations, conducting regular checks and risk assessments.
  • Vendor Coordination: Liaise with external suppliers and contractors to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of services, including entertainment, AV, and decorations.
  • Problem Solving: Act quickly to resolve any issues that arise during events, maintaining professionalism and ensuring minimal disruption to the client’s experience.
  • Budget Management: Assist in monitoring event budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising the quality of service.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in event operations, ideally from a caterer.
  • Experience managing multiple events simultaneously, with the ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising event and catering staff.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to deliver high-quality events.
  • A strong understanding of food service operations and experience working closely with in-house or external catering teams.
