This transformational role is crucial for steering the technology strategy to empower digital and data enablement as the organization advances through a period of dynamic growth and scaling.


Basen in Australia, and directly reporting to an innovative CEO, the role involves a significant leadership presence, managing a technology team of c.40, and driving the digital transformation, data optimisation, product digitisation, and expansion into new international markets.

You will join a profitable business that is not only established but experiencing exponential growth with the aim to double its revenue in the next three to five years. This role provides a substantial budget for transformation and integrates technology into the core business strategy to enhance service delivery and operational excellence.


If you are located outside Australia, but open to relocate, our client is prepared to sponsor a work visa and assist with the relocation process on a case-by-case basis for the right leader. Join us in transforming the educational landscape and advancing global learning initiatives.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Board and C-Suite to design and enact an overarching information and data strategy that aligns with the company’s growth objectives.
  • Develop and execute a detailed data strategy, including the establishment of data lakes, data warehousing, and interactive data dashboards to bolster robust, data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead transformative projects both internally and customer-facing, accelerating the enhancement of processes and operational efficiencies as the organization rapidly grows.
  • Implement the vision and strategy for comprehensive technology and data management, including architecture, applications support, infrastructure, services, security, and project oversight.
  • Work in close partnership with cross-functional teams such as Operations, Finance, HR, Marketing, and Sales to ensure optimal functionality of all data and technology systems across different areas and locations.
  • Drive technological innovation and automation, managing a balanced portfolio of projects that deliver substantial business value, adhering to governance and budgetary controls.
  • Evaluate and enhance team capabilities, setting KPIs, monitoring performance, and fostering a culture of accountability and proactive problem-solving.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and industry-specific protocols, enhancing data protection and security measures across operations.
  • Manage relationships with key technology service providers, ensuring the organization acts as an expert buyer to secure high-quality, cost-efficient technology solutions.
  • Champion the organization’s core values and culture in existing and new markets, ensuring these principles are actively preserved and developed as the organization expands.


This Person Will Be:

  • A commercially astute, strategic, and innovative senior data and technology executive who is results-oriented, and adept at implementing digital transformation and technology management in a highly regulated business.
  • An inspiring leader with a minimum of 5 years within a senior technology leadership position recruiting, coaching, and managing data-led technology teams and vendors. A passionate and emotionally intelligent leader adept at building, developing unifying, and retaining high performing and enthused teams with a clear united vision.
  • A proven strategic, innovative technologist and operational leader, this sophisticated international professional will have a background in programming, project management, engineering or systems architecture. In addition, essential is experience in cyber security, setting up the security organization and SecOps.
  • A visionary with strategic insight and expertise to design and implement robust IS, data management, and technology optimisation strategies across the enterprise. Adept at providing timely, accurate, and accessible data and information, coupled with high-quality interpretation, insights, and analysis, and imaginatively presented reporting
  • Proven to deliver, forward-thinking digital-first transformations, assess priorities, and define success through best practices while supporting the business to win new customers, expand global market impact, and ensure outstanding client satisfaction.
  • Collaborative leader and team player with experience partnering with CEOs, Boards, and senior stakeholders in a complex multi-site and multi-programme business with international operations.


Qualifications:

  • Holds a Bachelor's degree (MBA preferred) adding a robust theoretical and practical framework to their professional capabilities. Experienced in managing P&L, and CapEx/OpEx budget, this candidate understands the financial aspects of technology leadership and strategic investment.
  • Demonstrable experience in transforming and leading high-performing technology teams, with a strong leadership presence across the organization.
  • Extensive experience in architectural design, data management, and security, particularly in regulated environments.
  • Proven track record in vendor management, contract negotiation, and performance management.
  • Strong ability to meet and exceed targets, driving significant transformational change within a mid-sized or large organization.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a sound commercial acumen to support the organization’s risk management and compliance frameworks.
  • Knowledge of cutting-edge technologies such as RPA, blockchain, AI, machine learning, and cognitive computing is expected.
  • The successful candidate will need adaptive thinking and strong leadership skills to navigate the evolving business and market landscapes.
