Practice: Cataract Surgery Practice (Single Surgeon, Private Practice)

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Practice Manager to lead the growth of a well-established cataract surgery practice in SW London & Surrey. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving the practice’s development, with a clear focus on marketing, operational efficiency, and patient satisfaction. The goal is to grow the practice from a current turnover of 300 procedures pa to 600 in the first year and to 900 in the second year.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Practice Development & Growth:


• Help develop and implement strategic plans to increase patient volume and revenue every 90 days.

• Expand referral networks with GPs, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals.

• Identify and explore new service lines or complementary offerings (e.g., laser treatments, private consultations).

• Monitor industry trends and local competition, and adjust strategies accordingly.


2. Marketing & Branding:


• Manage a marketing strategy that includes digital marketing (SEO, social media, Google Ads), content creation, and patient testimonials.

• Oversee online presence, ensuring the website and social media platforms are current, informative, and engaging liaising with website & advertising management company.

• Organise community outreach events or informational seminars to promote the practice.


3. Financial Management:

• Ensure financial objectives and budgets are met in line with growth targets.

• Regularly monitor practice finances, ensuring profit goals are met and expenses are managed effectively.

• Identify opportunities to improve billing efficiency and patient conversion rates.


4. Operations & Administration:


• Ensure smooth day-to-day operations, including appointment scheduling, patient management, customer sales.

• Work closely with hospital staff & PA to streamline processes and improve patient flow.

• Use practice management software to enhance patient care and practice efficiency.

• Ensure all compliance with healthcare regulations and standards is maintained.


5. Patient Experience:


• Enhance the patient journey from initial contact through follow-up, focusing on communication, care quality, and overall satisfaction.

• Gather and analyse patient feedback to continually improve service delivery.

• Introduce initiatives that increase patient retention and referrals aligned with 90 day sprints.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):


Revenue Growth: Achieve turnover goals of 600 cataract procedures in the first year and 900 by the second year.

Patient Volume: Increase new patient bookings to match surgery rate requirements (depending on starting numbers) year-over-year.

Referral Growth: Increase referral sources by 20% (optometrists, GPs, etc.) annually.

Marketing Metrics: Improve website traffic and conversion rates on digital campaigns (measurable through Google Analytics, social media engagement, etc.).

Patient Satisfaction: Maintain or improve patient satisfaction scores, with a target rating of 4.5+ stars on Google Reviews.

Remuneration:

Base Salary: £30,000 per annum (50% FTE), depending on experience plus OTA bonuses. It is expected that this will become a full time role as the targets are being met.

Bonus Structure: Performance-related bonuses based on profit targets and meeting the surgery growth requirements

• Proven experience in practice management or healthcare management.

• Strong marketing and business development skills.

• Familiarity with private practice financial management and KPI setting.

• Exceptional leadership and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and drive results.
