POSITION: Commercial Manager


LOCATION : Birmingham ( 3 days) hybrid role


THE ROLE : Our client would like to recruit a Commercial Manager with Public Sector experience to provide commercial and procurement support to various Estate teams throughout the UK. Candidates must have commercial/procurement experience working in the Public Sector in one or more of the following sectors - Construction, Facilities Management, Estates Management, Civil Engineering or Estates Infrastructure.


SALARY AND BENEFITS : £57,670 plus Public Sector benefits including an 18% pension


YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING :

  • Public Sector Procurement/Commercial experience
  • MCIPS or working towards
  • Experience in people management
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities
  • Experience in the following categories or ones of similar characteristics: construction, estates infrastructure, civil engineering, estates management, facilities management
  • Strong problem-solving abilities including the ability to weigh arguments and substantiate judgements
  • Ability to solve multifaceted and complex problems
  • Ability to communicate, challenge and influence at all levels
  • Experience working within a demanding and pressured environment
  • Flexible and responsive to tasking and direction, with a high level of commitment to succeed
  • Ability to be proactive, make decisions and deliver results and desired outcomes
  • Ability to identify and mitigate commercial risk
  • Able to work effectively individually and as a member of a team
  • Good working knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract


AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY :

  • Provide assurance that processes and methods for Managing Public Money are adhered to through commercial compliance
  • Work with stakeholders to craft tender documentation that is fit-for-purpose whilst conforming to all procurement regulations and law
  • Developing a central Commercial Strategy which take into account corporate plan aspirations
  • Ensure standard contracts are updated from time to time as required to comply with law
  • Ensure processes and policies are updated from time to time as required in order to comply with public contracts regulations
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand business needs, ensuring that commercial policy and process supports the needs and that best practice is delivered
  • Develop supplier and category strategies with regional teams as appropriate
