You are a seasoned professional with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in property maintenance, housing, or construction environments, ideally within the public or private sectors. Your extensive knowledge of building construction methods, materials, safety management, and building regulations is crucial. Possessing a clear understanding of the Building Safety legislation and Bill, you have a proven track record of delivering projects on time and to a high standard. Your excellent project management skills, paired with your ability to engage effectively with stakeholders, make you an indispensable asset. You should be confident, articulate, and able to communicate well both verbally and in writing, and you are committed to improving fire safety with a person-centred approach. A UK driving license and willingness to work flexible hours, as well as a commitment to continuous professional development and learning, are essential.

What the Job Involves

As a Building Safety Project Manager at Newham Council, you will be integral to ensuring the safety and compliance of the Council’s housing assets. Your role involves managing the development and submission of Building Safety Case Files and Building Assessment Certificate applications to the Building Safety Regulator. You will lead inspections of high-rise and other buildings, manage remediation processes, and coordinate closely with internal and external stakeholders including fire engineers and surveyors. The preparation and delivery of safety-related communications and reports, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of building safety requirements, and supporting data management for building safety information are key components of your responsibilities. Collaborative work across various teams to maintain high-quality, safe residences and the promotion of continuous improvement efforts across departments align with the Council's objectives. You will primarily work from the office, progressively moving towards a more flexible working environment after Christmas.
