Oxford UK, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom Flare Bright Full time

About Flare Bright:

Flare Bright is a rapidly growing software company of around 20 people based near Oxford & Bicester with an office in White City, London. We are leaders in developing Machine Learning & Digital Twin software for the Aerospace, Defence and Urban Air Mobility sectors. This role is a rare opportunity to join an expanding team with a professional, flexible, inclusive culture, great benefits and a successful track record.

The Role:

Working closely with everyone from apprentices to our CEO and CTO, you will be responsible for leading Flare Bright's bid and proposal managing efforts across multiple sectors, including Aerospace, Defence, and Commercial. You'll take full ownership of the bid process, crafting and managing proposals that not only align with our strategic objectives and technical strengths but also stand out in a competitive, fast-paced environment. This involves coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure each proposal is comprehensive, compelling, and tailored to meet client needs, positioning us as a leader in Aerospace, Defence, and Commercial sectors.

Flare Bright operates in a competitive, dynamic environment, and the role will require a balance of sales-oriented and technical skills. You will work collaboratively with the technical team to ensure all proposals are aligned with the company’s strategic objectives and technical capabilities.

Your key responsibilities will include developing high-quality proposals, managing the bid process from start to finish, navigating government application processes, and working on high-value defence contracts. Additionally, you will maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations, particularly when bidding for government contracts.

Skills & Experience

● Proven experience writing successful bids and proposals for Aerospace, Defence, or related industries.

● Expertise in government contract processes, including navigating frameworks, RFIs, RFPs, and ITTs.

● Strong commercial acumen with experience securing high-value contracts.

● Exceptional writing and communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts in a persuasive and engaging manner.

● A sales-driven mindset, with the ability to emphasise the value proposition of Flare Bright in every proposal.

● Familiarity with industry standards, such as Cyber Essentials, and the specific requirements of the defence industry.

● Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously.

Requirements:

You must be comfortable working within the defence industry. A Baseline Personnel Security Standard check will be undertaken before an offer is made, and you must be willing and eligible for (or already have) at least UK SC clearance. References will be checked.

● You must be highly organised, reliable and process-oriented with excellent written and spoken English and clear communications.

● You must be strongly computer literate particularly with documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and cloud drives.

● Must not be subject to restrictions under any non-UK export laws (such as US ITAR)

Location:

● Hybrid working could be considered, but you will generally work in White City, London or our Head Office in Westcott Venture Park (15 minutes drive from Bicester or Aylesbury, 30 minute drive NE of Oxford).

● This is not a purely remote position.

Benefits:

● Opportunity to work in (and grow with) a rapidly growing company in a supportive and friendly team in professional facilities with flexibility and minimum bureaucracy.

● We provide a share options scheme for qualifying employees.

● 33 days annual holiday (including bank holidays), Employee Assistance Programme,

cycle to work scheme and support for Continuous Professional Development.
