Position Overview

Due to continued growth, our client is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and timely estimates for company projects at all stages, from pre-tender to post-tender. You will ensure clear and consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders throughout the estimating process to maximize the company's commercial opportunities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Workflow Management: Ensure a consistent workflow to maintain company operations across both the UK and Ireland.
  • Tender Preparation: Complete each tender in a consistent and structured manner, adhering to company procedures and standards. Accurately prepare tenders with a thorough understanding of all foreseeable construction, technical, and commercial risks.
  • Project Review: Gain insights into actual installation times and review completed projects to identify discrepancies between budgeted and actual outcomes.
  • Collaboration: Work as part of the estimating team to help achieve the business unit’s revenue goals by producing accurate and timely estimates. Collaborate with other departments to identify, share, and implement best practices.
  • Take-Offs and Measures: Perform accurate take-offs and measurements for tenders, ensuring that all prime costs of the project are fully understood and captured within the estimating software.
  • Supplier and Subcontractor Management: Vet incoming enquiries and dispatch accurate supplier and subcontractor enquiries within required timelines. Work closely with specialist subcontractors to assess and validate quotations, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Value Engineering: Prepare product substitution and value engineering options to optimize project costs and outcomes.
  • Market Knowledge: Stay updated on market trends, pricing levels, competition, and work volume to consistently prepare relevant and competitive estimates.


Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience: Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator or in preparing electrical estimations. Knowledge of electrical installations is advantageous but not essential.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Health and Safety Knowledge: A solid understanding of health and safety requirements in the construction industry.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all stakeholders.
