Founded in Hawaii in 1979 and located at the base of Mt. Hood in Hood River, Oregon, DAKINE builds backpacks, travel bags, accessories, outerwear and clothing for people who love to surf, snowboard, skateboard, mountain bike, ski, windsurf, and travel.



Objective.


The successful candidate will be tasked with developing and leading the DAKINE sales and marketing strategy across the UK and Ireland, focusing on revenue growth and profitability among both existing and prospective customers. The ideal candidate will utilise their enthusiasm for the outdoors and the authenticity of the DAKINE brand to elevate the brand's status and appeal in the marketplace.


The position is primarily sales led, with leadership responsibility across sales and marketing.



Accountabilities.


STRATEGY


  • Define the brand strategy (sales and marketing) with 1-3 year plan across categories and retailers for UK&I (current and new accounts).
  • Own, manage and leverage relationship with DAKINE licensee (JR286) to deliver commercial opportunities for the business.
  • Share seasonal teardowns with key stakeholders internally and externally (JR286).
  • Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBR's) with licensee (JR286).
  • Engage internal teams on all things DAKINE (Operations, Finance, Sales, Marketing).
  • Be the face of the brand. Get things done.



SALES


  • Manage sales agents (2), ensuring that they are set up for success each season and driving sustainable revenue for the business.
  • Actively meet new customers, showcasing the DAKINE brand and increasing 'quality' distribution.
  • Leverage Sportax current customer network to secure new DAKINE distribution.
  • Hands on account management if/when required.
  • Measure, track and report success and risk, align internally with key stakeholders.
  • Continually review and manage inventory levels within the business, identifying risk and opportunities.
  • Access, manage and analyse sell through data from key retail partners.



MARKETING


  • Recruit, lead and coach a marketing headcount (1).
  • Work with marketing to ensure DAKINE products resonate with consumers, developing online and offline retail marketing campaigns within the territory.
  • Identify and attend UK based events and tradeshows to elevate the DAKINE brand presence, engagement and conversion within the territory.
  • Leverage marketing to drive brand presence and commercial pay off for DAKINE and our retail partners.
  • Effectively manage and track marketing budgets.
  • Share all marketing initiatives with DAKINE licensee (JR286).



EXPERIENCE AND LEADERSHIP REQUIREMENTS


  • Minimum 5 years industry experience within sales based role.
  • An in depth understanding of the UK&I sports and outdoor retail landscape, particularly snow and surf.
  • Proven ability to engage, persuade and influence people to take desired actions.
  • An entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness and ability to get things done.
  • A willingness to step outside of your role when required to support the interest of the wider business.
  • The ability to drive positive change, push the boundaries and shape future growth opportunities.
  • Analytical, strategic, accountable.

The role is a hybrid mix between the office in North Manchester and home, the strong preference is for a candidate based in the Greater Manchester area.
