Main purpose of job:

Organise andmanage daily operations within an extremely busy, high end craft bakery café & pizzeria which includes a very popular takeaway and order collection service for the bakery products.

Provide professional, friendly, efficient service to all our takeaway and dine-in customers as part of the Front of House Team.

To manage, motivate, train and support the team to meet Flourish professional standards and deliver outstanding customer service at all times, setting a personal example.

To ensure the implementation and maintenance of consistently impeccable standards of food hygiene and health and safety within all areas of the café and café kitchen.

Take charge and manage shifts.

Position reports to:General Manager

Hours and place of work:45 hrs per week on rota basis, (Monday to Sunday) Weekends essential.

Flourish Craft Bakery Café, Watford

Operating Hours:

Café Monday Sunday 7am-5pm

Pizzeria Monday Sunday 12pm-9:30pm

Main Responsibilities

  • Work flexibly as part of the whole Flourish Craft Bakery Team, helping other departments whenever necessary.
  • Represent Flourish Craft Bakery positively and professionally at all times, acting as an ambassador for the brand and the business.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the busy café, eat-in, takeaway and order collections
  • Working with the General Manager, schedule shifts and organise staffing rotas to ensure appropriate cover at all times
  • Assist in the recruitment, onboarding and induction of new team members as required
  • Train, encourage and motivate the team on all elements of service; drinks preparation, proper use of coffee equipment, table service etc
  • Create a warm, friendly and welcoming environment for customers, establishing and maintaining excellent standards of customer service and serving customers directly. Deal with any customer complaints politely and diplomatically.
  • Leading by example, support and guide café staff to nurture relationships with customers, resolve issues and deliver excellent customer service
  • Take responsibility for ensuring all café staff comply with the Company food safety, HACCP, H&S, and SALSA regulations and Company recycling procedures at all times, addressing immediate concerns and raising any issues with the General Manager
  • Ensure the premises, our products and the team are well presented, and the business is kept clean and tidy throughout the day
  • Assist the General Manager in implementing and maintaining systems to ensure efficiency and quality at all times, contributing ideas
  • Develop and maintain a good knowledge of our Company history, operations, menus and baked products
  • To undertake any other duties or responsibilities as reasonably requested by company management to meet the needs of the business
  • Undertake a monthly stock take to maximise effective utilisation of stock, improve efficiency in ordering and forecasting stock levels and maintain target profit margins.

Required Skills

  • Previous experience of working in hospitality as a supervisor and taking responsibility for and managing shifts is essential
  • Ideally some experience in a high-end food operation
  • Barista trained
  • Good food knowledge and a passion for quality produce
  • Excellent team working skills and the ability to guide, enthuse, and motivate the team
  • Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills
  • Outstanding customer service skills
  • Good technology skills ideally familiar with Lightspeed or similar till system
  • Good command of written and spoken English
