London NW EW, UK, United Kingdom Barnet Council Full time
Who You Are

As an Advanced Practitioner in Barnet Family Services, you possess substantial post-qualification experience in a statutory Children's Social Care setting. You hold a recognized professional Social Work Qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW) and are registered with the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC). It is ideal if you have a Practice Educator Award or are willing to achieve this within your first year of employment. You are adept at complex social work practices, demonstrating expert and effective handling of high-risk situations. Your communication skills are exemplary, with the ability to conduct detailed assessments and develop structural work plans. You are committed to supporting and mentoring less experienced social workers, participating actively in the Workforce Development Programme, and upholding the Council's core values including equality and public service.

What the Job Involves

This role involves delivering a comprehensive social work service under a Resilience framework. You will handle complex case management duties and provide focused social work interventions while building professional relationships with children and their families. You will be expected to maintain case records and provide high-quality reports. In situations where the team manager is unavailable, you may deputize and take a lead role in areas of specialization as directed by departmental policies. The job requires engaging with multiple agencies and may involve resolving intricate family dynamics and risks. You are responsible for mentoring trainee educators and new qualified social workers, contributing to workforce development as a Research and Evidence Fellow. The role demands flexibility, occasionally working beyond normal office hours, with hybrid working arrangements and visits to foster carers as required.
