We are looking for Cloud Engineers to work within agile teams engaged in delivering and running cloud platforms for our customers to ensure the scalability, reliability, security, and efficiency of the environments that host the UK Public sector’s national critical infrastructure in line with the Government Digital Service (GDS) Service Manual and Technology Code of Practice.


As an AWS Cloud Engineer, you will:

  • Ensure, advise and lead in delivering best-in-breed cloud services for our customers in line with the adoption of DevOps principles and practices.
  • Design, deploy and configure production systems, focusing on automation, ease of configuration, reduction of human error, repeatability, and security.
  • Collaborate with other cloud engineers to design, implement and evolve automated CI/CD pipelines in the cloud.
  • Engage in the design, collaborating with product owners and architects to ensure that solutions help our customers and achieve the desired business goals.
  • Monitor new features/functionality and assess their Ops implications to improve services continuously.
  • Ensure Identity and Access Management controls are in place and strictly adhered to.
  • Monitor infrastructure by setting appropriate thresholds and reacting to event-driven alerts appropriately.
  • Discover and recommend ways to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Maintain an overarching service dashboard and reporting.
  • Produce and maintain exemplar documentation of support processes & resolutions to known operational issues.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota as required. (not a current requirement)
  • Participate in a hybrid working model, working remotely and 2 - 3 days per week on our customer site in Corsham Wiltshire.

As an AWS Cloud Engineer, what you need to know & demonstrate:

  • Have a strong understanding of AWS cloud technologies (5 years minimum experience, AWS DevOps Engineer Professional)
  • Have demonstrable senior hands-on experience working with AWS technologies as a Cloud Engineer.
  • Have or can demonstrate working towards relevant certifications as a Cloud Engineer
  • Have cross cloud experience within Azure, Oracle & GCP
  • Have excellent knowledge of cloud computing deployment models and current cloud computing trends for deploying Infrastructure-as-Code.
  • Substantial experience in infrastructure-as-code programming languages that support DevOps automation, including Terraform and ANSIBLE.
  • Have a best practice approach to writing infrastructure as code. Including writing automated tests and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • You will have experience with Source and Version Control tools such as GitHub, Azure DevOps, or equivalents.
  • Be experienced working within scaled Agile delivery teams within a fast-paced DevOps environment, including being an active contributor as part of an agile development team.
  • Have a good understanding of Service Operations & ITIL responsibilities as applied to operating with a DevOps environment.
  • Have experience and a proven track record as a member of a Cloud Team within an Operations function.
  • Be diligent and positive about tracking support tickets, system monitoring, security & auditing., including feeding your insights to improve the platform continuously.
  • Have good communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated cloud solutions to senior management and other IT professionals.
  • Have the ability to manage a complex mix of work within tight timescales.
  • Have a positive attitude and a strong commitment to delivering quality work
  • Have the ability to engage with all stakeholders with a complex service delivery model.
  • Must have UK government SC clearance or be willing to go through the process to become SC cleared
  • Cloud have UK government DV clearance or be willing to go through the process to become DV cleared
