HENI is recruiting a Chief Operating Officer on behalf of a Charitable Arts Foundation client.


The Foundation’s charitable purposes are the advancement of education and the promotion of useful knowledge relating to architecture, especially modern architecture, design and related disciplines, maintaining the Foundation’s archive, and the establishment or support of a museum or art gallery.


The COO will ensure that all aspects of the Foundation's activities are run efficiently and will direct and oversee the operational activities of the organisation, which are dedicated to preserving and promoting the legacy of a renowned architect known for groundbreaking contributions to modern architecture and design.


The successful candidate will work in conjunction with the Director of the Foundation and a Senior Management Team and will need to be comfortable working ‘at pace’ in a role which will be both strategic and hands-on. This is a fantastic opportunity for somebody seeking a high-profile role in a charitable Foundation that is seeking to become a best in class globally.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Ensuring the financial health of the Foundation through effective budgeting, fundraising, and resource management and value for money in procurement and purchasing.
  2. Archive – Work with a Head of Collections to ensure optimal organisation of security, staffing, storage space and access to archive items when required.
  3. Buildings – work with a Facilities Manager to ensure maintenance, security and cleaning are of the highest quality.
  4. Supervise the Foundation's day-to-day operations, including staff management and motivation and internal communication.
  5. Ensure Foundation policies, procedures and reporting and other Charitable requirements are met.
  6. Establish and maintain a high standard of governance to ensure decisions are aligned with the Foundation’s strategy and that the Foundation remains compliant with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
  7. Provide mentoring to key colleagues
  8. Coordinate with HR to provide a suitable system for employee salaries and benefits


PERSON SPECIFICATION


  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in hands-on operations roles, ideally in museums, galleries, SME’s or family run businesses and current experience as COO/Head of Operations
  • Driven and energetic with strong interpersonal skills and an excellent communicator at all levels.
  • Demonstrable experience in driving operational efficiency and leading teams.
