A family company, established in 1959, we provide Mechanical Services to customers in Oxfordshire and surrounding areas, specialising in the installation and maintenance of Heating, Plumbing and Ventilation Systems.

Job Overview

The Mechanical Contracts Manager will be responsible for overseeing a number of smaller projects, as well as ongoing servicing and reactive works throughout the area. The value of the small works, will range from £10,000 to £400,000. Projects range from University buildings/ accommodation, manor houses and schools.

The candidate must have experience in a previous mechanical contracts managers role. The candidate would ideally come from a technical background within the HVAC sector commercial heating.

The Mechanical Project Manager / Estimator will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to surveying and quoting jobs, cost pricing and estimates for new mechanical and HVAC work and reactive and maintenance work. Reviewing technical drawings and specifications for take offs to create a materials list. Manage the procurement process for mechanical materials, equipment, and subcontractors including compiling RAMs and ensuring H&S compliance on projects. Carry out any amendments or variations to existing projects / contracts and work closely with the finance team to track and manage these through the project life cycle.

Coordination of the projects. Collaborating closely with other project stakeholders, including the customer, site managers, engineers, and architects, internal finance team to ensure seamless project execution. Oversee and coordinate the mechanical workforce on-site and subcontractors ensuring efficient utilisation of resources.

Area of work

Oxfordshire and surrounding counties when necessary.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a contracts manager and estimator.
  • Design experience advantageous.
  • Ability to run a number of projects at one time.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems and services. •
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Preferred NVQ Level 3 Plumbing or equivalent.
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Hours of Work
