Hours of Work:- 8.30am – 5pm Monday – Thursday, 8.30am – 2pm Friday


Job Overview

Responsible for the technical and commercial activities of three different sites within our ceramic division; Wallasey, Bolton, and Vietnam. Occasional travel will be required to the sites with the role being based in Wallasey. You will be responsible for driving the commercial strategy of the company, overseeing the development and execution of business plans, managing client relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring the achievement of financial targets. The role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership and negotiation skills, and the ability to drive growth and profitability. This role would suit someone with proven experience working within a commercial or business development role.


Job Role:

  • Oversee customer enquires/orders ensuring quotations are profitable and fully inclusive of shipping costs, margin, calculating the cost of sales including calculating costs based on Volumes and weight. This sometimes involves the conversion of units of measurements.
  • Working alongside production to ensure resource costs are accurate in order to maximise margin.
  • Working alongside business development manager to identify and peruse new business opportunities to drive growth and revenue by aiding in the collections of market research to identify potential areas for expansion.
  • Run and analyse end of month reports to ensure latest orders are profitable and efficiencies and correctly booked.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction are achieved.
  • Work alongside the Logistics manager to ensure that customers’ orders are shipped in a timely manner and all requests are followed. Aide with the production of shipping documentation needed for import/export.
  • Working with manufacturing and sales departments to ensure the timely delivery of goods, as well as Liaising with vendors, third party logistics providers and any other parties involved in the expedition of stock.
  • General upkeep of Factory Master system to ensure all processes are fulling smoothly
  • Maintaining records regarding the movement and location of freight, Including managing the company systems to ensure arrival dates and times are accurate and creating reports for internal management and customers
  • Understanding and Highlighting the financial aspects and impacts of contracts and Sales orders under certain haulage incoterms
  • Discussing, drafting, reviewing and negotiating existing and new business contracts to ensure risk is mitigated from business.
  • Ensuring that all stakeholders, such as administration, operations, and finance understand and adhere to contractual obligations; reflecting them accurately
  • Resolving contractual and commercial problems, recognising business risks and opportunities
  • Undertake compliance checking to ensure that goods received and exported are not being sent to a sanctioned country
  • To work in collaboration with Divisional Management in reviewing, scrutinising, and developing efficient and effective operational process flow.


Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Must have very strong Mathematical and analytical skills, as all quotations are calculated in volume.
  • Decision making skills to ensure profit margins are met
  • Ideally qualified to Degree level, although candidates educated to A level standard in Maths or Science will be considered.
  • Experience or knowledge of international shipping and supply chain, ideally including organising multi-modal transport/freight forwarding.
  • Can demonstrate superior time management and organisational skills
  • Must be computer literate and be able to learn and use the company in house system
  • Must have good presentation and communication skills
  • Must exhibit professionalism and cordiality with customers, suppliers and staff
  • Must have the capacity to adequately handle work stress and be able to meet project deadlines
  • Must have the drive to learn the technical knowledge of products, of distribution channels, and to improve knowledge base above and beyond administration
  • Travel to clients will be expected must have full driving license.
