Role Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Engineer to join our team, specialising in telecommunications systems. The successful candidate will bring expertise in Wide Area Networks (WAN), IP protocols, and communication systems, with a solid understanding of Project Lifecycle processes to ensure effective delivery and compliance in a complex and safety-critical environment. Key Responsibilities Day-to-day you will be involved in the design, engineering and project management of infrastructure projects based in the UK. You will be required to assist in planning, coordinating and executing engineering projects within your area of expertise, as well as representing SRC at client facing meetings with confidence and credibility. You will be working closely and directly with external/client staff, key stakeholders and the internal SRC team. Experience in a multidisciplinary environment. Prepare, coordinate and monitor the assigned engineering projects and deliverables. Interpretation and implementation of client specification requirements in the development of designs and engineering solutions. Undertake and monitor the project team's engineering tasks in accordance with the company's quality, safety and project management/engineering procedures and controls. Accountable for the effective delivery of the project engineering tasks and deliverables of Projects to time, to the required quality. Inputs to the formulation of technical proposals and their presentation to potential clients. Maintain good relationships with client's key representatives, and contribute to the marketing / networking of the company to potential customers. Monitor compliance to relevant British and International standards, Regulations, health safety and environmental considerations. Communicate with the Project Manager and wider team to provide assistance and technical support. Ensure all engineering activities are carried out with consideration to key stakeholders in interfacing environments. Contribute to the overall team development and growth through strategic inputs, skill development and mentoring intermediate and graduate engineers. Manage and plan your work and deliverables while working on multiple projects to meet the expected delivery milestones. Undertake and monitor design reviews in accordance with requirements and programme. Review detailed designs for telecoms systems, including WAN, IP networks, and communication systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards, client specifications. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate telecoms systems with other infrastructure components. Oversee factory and site acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) of telecom systems. Maintain compliance with safety-critical regulations and procedures. Qualifications and Skills Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline. Professional membership or chartership (e.g., IET, IRSE) is highly desirable. Relevant certifications in IP networking (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP) are a plus. Minimum of 6 years of experience in project engineering, ideally with telecoms industry. Proven track record in designing WANs, IP-based networks, and station communications systems. In-depth knowledge of WAN architecture and IP protocols. Experience with fibre-optic systems, structured cabling, and telecoms hardware. TfL Pathway Knowledge: Demonstrable familiarity with project lifecycle processes, including governance, assurance, and project delivery stages. Strong understanding of telecoms sector. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and under project deadlines.
