Job DescriptionThe OpportunityWe are working with a respected organisation seeking an Interim Senior Finance Officer / Team Leader to support the Finance Manager in overseeing the day‑to‑day functions of a busy Finance Office. This is a hands‑on role, ideal for experienced finance professionals with strong team management skills and the ability to handle operational finance queries.Key Responsibilities\tDay‑to‑day management of Finance Office operations, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.\tTeam leadership: allocating work, coaching, mentoring, and conducting performance reviews.\tAnswering queries and resolving issues across finance functions, including sales ledger (SL) and purchase ledger (PL).\tAssisting with payment runs, including BACS processing, and checking financial information.\tPerforming bank reconciliations and supporting balance sheet reconciliations.\tValidating and processing staff expenses in line with financial procedures.\tAssisting with pension administration.\tSupporting improvements in finance software usage.\tUpdating and maintaining finance information on internal systems/intranet.\tDealing with general queries from both internal and external contacts.\tProviding general assistance when required in the Finance Office.Candidate ProfileWe are keen to hear from candidates who bring:\tProven experience in finance operations and team leadership.\tStrong knowledge of SL, PL, reconciliations, and payment processes.\tExcellent communication skills and the ability to advise staff and external stakeholders.\tA proactive approach to problem‑solving and process improvement.\tExperience coaching, mentoring, and developing staff.\tAn education background in finance or accounting would be helpful.Why Apply?\tJanuary start date.\tCompetitive interim rate.\t3‑month contract with genuine potential to become permanent.\tHybrid working available after training.\tOpportunity to lead a busy finance team and make a real impact.What you need to do nowIf you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.If this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career.Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
