Reporting into the Transactional Processing Manager this role will be responsible for supervision of the Accounts Payable team and management of all AP-related processes to ensure timely and accurate processing of supplier invoices, payments, reconciliations, and adherence to company policies and controls.Key Responsibilities:Supervise and support the Accounts Payable team in the day-to-day running of the purchase ledger function.Oversee and assist with receiving, coding, and inputting supplier invoices into the accounting system.Ensure invoices are accurately matched with purchase orders and delivery notes.Review coding on authorised invoices, resolve queries, and obtain correct coding where required.Ensure timely payments to suppliers within the agreed terms and approval limitsReview and approve supplier statement reconciliations, ensuring purchase ledger accounts are accurate and up to date.Conduct weekly reviews of the purchase order listing, chasing outstanding unauthorised invoices as required.Perform monthly reviews of supplier accounts, resolving queries, obtaining invoices, and ensuring correct matching of payments.Prepare and review payment run information for approval and ensure compliance with internal control procedures.Manage supplier and internal department queries promptly and professionally, via phone and email.Ensure all month-end close activities and reconciliations are completed within given deadlines.Review VAT on all documents processed through purchase ledger to ensure compliance and accurate VAT recovery.Oversee and review staff expense claims processed via the ERP Expenses system, ensuring all receipts are included and claims meet the Group expense policy.Prepare the payment forecast for inclusion within the cash flow forecast and monitor upcoming liabilities.Provide supplier and payment analysis and generate purchase ledger activity reports as required.Lead and manage Accounts Payable–related projects, including invoice automation, process improvement, and ERP implementation.Monitor Accounts Payable KPIs, ensuring targets are achieved and performance issues are addressed promptly.Develop and maintain process documentation, ensuring consistent procedures are followed across the team.Provide training, coaching, and ongoing development support to the Accounts Payable Assistants.Collaborate with wider Finance and Procurement teams to strengthen end-to-end purchase-to-pay processes.Knowledge, skills, and experience required:Significant experience in Accounts Payable, with prior supervisory or team lead experience.Strong understanding of purchase ledger processes, reconciliations, VAT, and expense management.Experience managing teams, monitoring KPIs, and providing coaching and development.Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Effective communication skills for liaising with suppliers, internal stakeholders, and management.Proficiency in ERP systems (NetSuite desirable) and Microsoft Excel.Experience leading process improvement, automation, or system implementation projects would be an advantage.What we offer:Competitive salary of £35,000 per annumPension schemeLife assurance33 days holiday per year – Inclusive of bank holidaysEnhanced Maternity PayEmployee Benefits Hub – offering retail discounts, rewards and perks on over 1,000 brandsEmployee Assistance Program – providing free 24/7, professional and confidential advice on any issue both personal and work relatedFree Wellbeing App – access to the latest in wellbeing support for example, virtual fitness programs, help to stop smoking etc.Company competitions to win cash prizesWe are a people focused business that values all employees.
