Job DescriptionFinancial Controller, Accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA), UKGAAP (FRS 102). Financial Control & ReportingWorking with a leading financial client based in London (city) to secure for them a Financial Controller to join the London Financial Control & Reporting TeamProfile SummaryThe Finance department includes a number of teams including Financial Control & Reporting, Management Reporting, Product Control, Taxation and Accounts Payable. Finance are responsible for providing up-to-date financial performance results and management information to support the business. The London Financial Control and Reporting team is responsible for London and Dubai's financial accounting and reporting related activities.The key requirements of this role will involve maintaining the integrity, accuracy and completeness of various aspects of financial accounting and reporting in accordance with HO accounting policy and reporting requirements.The ideal candidate for this role will be a qualified accountant with strong numerical and analytical skillsets, a good understanding of how a corporate bank works with some awareness of various corporate banking products, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment and display a positive, results oriented attitude.Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for various aspects of financial accounting and control, including month end/quarter-end adjustments, system and account reconciliations, ledger close etc. as well as the accuracy and completeness of the final trial balance.Preparation of various HO submissions in accordance with HO financial reporting requirements.Liaise with External auditors to support various quarterly/annual audit related activitiesSupport implementation of system changes/upgrades from a finance perspective, including the rollout of Oracle Cloud general ledger systemWork with the wider Finance team and other stakeholders to identify and implement changes to improve controls and efficiency.Support ongoing SOX related aspects including documentation, liaising with SOX auditors to complete SOX controls/testing.Act as cover/backup for other members of the team and support cross-training initiatives.Assist with the preparation of year end financial statements under UKGAAP.Qualifications, Skills, and Experience Bachelors Degree or equivalentFully qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) with relevant experience in a banking/financial services environment and/or Big 4 audit firmExcellent communication skillsStrong working knowledge of UKGAAP (FRS 102) and relevant accounting standards.Sound awareness and appreciation of controls, and proven ability to apply a control mindsetStrong Excel skills and good numerical and analytical skillsetsBe inquisitive and unafraid to ask questions in order to understand and advise on financial mattersDemonstrable ability to innovate, support change and problem solveGood knowledge of the Banking Industry and ability to apply relevant accounting knowledge. A good understanding of Investment Banking products would be a definite advantage
