The Role

We are looking for an Associate to join our Financial Control Team in either London, Leeds or Edinburgh

The Financial Control teamwork plan includes: daily cash management activities; provide support for month end; balance sheet reconciliations; fixed asset recording; taxes; maintenance of policies; preparation of the financial statements; management of the audit; and risk monitoring.

Finance and Business Services look after the finances and working environment of the FCA. The division focuses strongly on customer service, providing both support and appropriate challenge to the wider business to help ensure that the FCA utilises its available resources to provide appropriate value for money.

What does the role involve?

The core responsibilities will include:
Treasury and Banking- Perform daily cash movement reconciliation, ensure that the FCA and its subsidiary have adequate funding and place excess funds on deposit to ensure efficient utilisation of FCA’s funds within the agreed policy;- Production of weekly cash flow and forecast;- Work with outsourced Treasury Management function to manage funds efficiently;- Liaise with key internal stakeholders i.e. Revenue, Payroll, Accounts Payable and Business Finance to obtain relevant and timely information to support robust planning and projection of cash flows.

Month-End Process- Production of accurate and timely journals;- Prepare Balance Sheet Reconciliations for various central accounts; and- Dealing with month end queries from colleagues and business stakeholders.

Year-End Process / Consolidated Annual Accounts and Audit- Contribute to the production of the Financial Statements; and- Provide information and support to the external auditors and deal with audit queries promptly.

Tax Compliance- Prepare / collate annual Payroll Settlement Agreement (PSA)- Assist with the preparation of quarterly VAT returns and VAT analysis

Other responsibilities will include:
- Cover for other Financial Control team members as required;- Any other monthly accounting or balance sheet reconciliations as allocated;- Ad hoc projects as required and contribute to continuous process improvements and implementation of commercial best practice; and- Provide support as required in the delivery of an effective Financial Control function.- Develop an all-round view of the FCA and its operations- Benefit from the opportunity develop your skills and experience in a supportive and dynamic environment in order to progress your career and where your contribution has the ability to make a difference.

Skills/Experience Required

Minimum- A part-qualified accountant (ICAEW/CA/ACCA) with relevant experience in balance sheet reconciliations, year-end audit and bank reconciliations- Strong computer literacy and well-developed skills in finance systems, Excel, Word and PowerPoint;- Experience of communicating with and influencing internal and external stakeholders- Maintaining and promoting effective working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.- A strong continuous improvement mentality, with an ability to identify inefficiencies in systems/processes, and work to eliminate them.

Essential- Production of bank reconciliations within an ERP system;- Experience of delivering good quality, accurate financial analysis and reporting;- A pro-active self-starter with the drive, enthusiasm, and commercial acumen to support the achievement of FCA's objectives within its risk appetite- Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines;- Good knowledge of expected financial policies and procedures- A strong continuous improvement mentality, with an ability to identify inefficiencies in systems/processes, and work to eliminate them

Desirable- Ability to connect and deliver with team and stakeholders- An interest in keeping up to date with reporting and financial planning- Preparation of cash flow forecasts- Treasury management
