Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) Officer Band 4
- Develop and maintain an accurate information database about Trust services, advocacy services, service user and carer groups, voluntary organisations, self-help groups and interpreting services.
- Coordinate a fast and helpful response to any concerns raised, and that issues and resolutions are reported to the appropriate assurance committees.
- Seek, provide and explain information relating to choices, services, medical conditions, treatment and procedures and provide suitable contacts for further information.
- Act as the gateway for anyone requiring information, wanting to raise concerns or wishing to put forward suggestions and comments.
- Advise on the Trust’s complaints procedure and refer people to the Complaints Team as required.
- Refer individuals who require specialist support and advice to the appropriate specialist service, e.g. advocacy services.
- Deal effectively with clients in a constructive way, supporting individual patients, carers and relatives; acting as negotiator, and facilitate the resolution of concerns quickly and efficiently.
- Work collaboratively with staff and service managers to ensure that any concerns or problems raised by patients, carers or their families are resolved, in accordance with the Handling of Complaints, Concerns & Compliments policy.

**Disclosure and Barring Service**:
On 28 November 2020, the new Disclosure and Barring Service filtering rules will come into effect.

**Standard Check**: £18 + Administration cost of £3.85 = £21.85. Deducted at £6.85 from 1st month salary and £5 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
**Enhanced Check**: £38 + administration cost of £3.90 = £41.90. Deducted at £11.90 from 1st month salary and £10 deducted from salary over following 3 months.
