We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced **Health, Safety and Environment Advisor**to join our busy Human Resources team.
Working as part of the Human Resources Team, you are responsible for driving and implementing the company HSE strategy, establish a positive attitude towards health and safety and identify areas of improvement within the organisation.
As **Health, Safety & Environmental Advisor**, you will provide support and guidance to all production, logistics and maintenance departments to ensure compliance to the relevant regulations and legislation requirements.
**Salary £26,982 and £29,970**
**Working hours - 39 hours per week**
**Monday to Thursday 7.45am to 4.30pm**
**Friday 7:45 to 1:45**
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Procedural**
- Reviewing and updating risk assessments across the plant and providing advice and support where required.
- Assist in the writing and reviewing of specific safe working instructions for various departments and providing support and advice where required.
- Provide recommendations for improving safety in all areas of production and maintenance departments and giving guidance on housekeeping and organisational standards.
- Assist in the investigation of any accidents or near misses and support in the identification of root causes, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Carry out or assist in the approval process for plant equipment or workplace set up
- Assist in managing and promoting the health and safety culture change across the plant and promoting our safety message.
- Supporting with site security, emergency responses and disaster recovery planning
- Support and assist in managing contractors through induction, managing and assessing whilst onsite.
- Assist and advise various departments on the safe use, handling and storage of hazardous substances and the implementing of suitable COSHH risk assessments
**Auditing**
- Conduct internal safety audits and inspections in various areas of the plant, identifying possible safety breaches and infringements, with recommendations for improvement.
- Support in audits and inspections being conducted by external/third party, and Client groups.
- Writing audit feedback reports.
**Training**
- Support all departments with HSE related training needs and requirements. This may include delivering internal training packages and/or booking accredited courses with external providers.
**Environmental**
- Assist with the bi-annual and annual external ISO14001 audits, reports and paperwork in accordance to company schedule.
- Attend EMS meetings and assist with internal audits and inspections.
- Assist the Controller in the coordination of all aspects of pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental Health, conservation
- Assist with audits - analyse and report environmental performance to management and regulatory bodies.
- Assist and support in implementing best practice in areas of corporate, ethical and social responsibility and address any issues arising.
**Essential skills / Experience /Qualifications**
- A minimum of one years’ previous experience either in a health and safety role or where there has been an opportunity to be involved with health and safety matters - _preferably working within a manufacturing environment but not essential_
- Experience of implementing preventative actions, developing new initiatives and co-ordinate their implementation.
- Can demonstrate relevant experience in writing or reviewing risk assessments and safe working instructions
- Have relevant experience or have been involved in workplace inspections, auditing processes and writing reports. Proven track record of experience in accident investigation and root cause analysis techniques.
- Experience in various safety data collection, analysis and interpretation skills.
- Have ability to be able to work using own initiative, to deadlines and be able to liaise with other and departments at all levels within the organisation.
- Knowledge and/or experience of Environmental Monitoring including audits (ISO14001)
- Knowledge and/or experience of Occupational Health and Safety Monitoring including audits (ISO45001)
**Beneficial skills / Experience /Qualifications**
- Health and Safety qualifications such as IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent would be advantageous for this role, but not mandatory (development opportunities may be available)
- Environmental qualification such as NEBOSH environmental or IEMA would be advantageous for this role, but not mandator
