**Job summary**:
The TRA is one of the first public bodies to be set up to meet the new needs of the UK following its departure from the European Union. We play a central part in ensuring that the international trading environment is fair as well as free, by protecting British businesses from unfair trading practices such as dumping, trade-distorting subsidies and unforeseen surges in imports.

We are growing to be an organisation of over 150 people, with our headquarters in central Reading. It is vital to me that we have a friendly, supportive culture, where you will quickly get to know who works here and where you will be helped to realise your full potential. We strive to be an outward-looking organisation, learning from international best practice and looking to add our own distinctive twist, such as developing our digital-first approach to trade remedy investigations. As an arm’s length body that is independent of government, we are passionate about living our values of integrity, expertise, transparency, and inclusion.

We are looking for professionals who bring relevant skills and expertise but who are also eager to learn and develop. Nobody joins the TRA as the finished article. If you believe that you have the experience and qualities to put your stamp on something new and exciting, we very much look forward to hearing from you.

**Job description**:
We are looking for a communications specialist who wants to develop their skills in an integrated communications team.

As a key supporting member of the team, you will be working across all areas of our work, to give you a busy and varied workload. By working on numerous projects and adjusting your priorities to fit.

This varied portfolio will give you exposure across the range of communications functions, helping you build your skills and experience.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Manage TRA brand guidelines and advise other teams and commercial suppliers on their use;
- Take forward marketing projects to produce brochures, posters and other collateral, working with commercial suppliers;
- Manage and develop our internal communications channels and work with other TRA teams to help them share engaging, high-quality content with staff;
- Work with other team members to generate ideas for social media content, benchmarking our approach against similar organisations and drawing on best practice from across government and beyond to ensure the TRA’s social media presence is engaging, informative and meets user needs;
- Work with our industry engagement team and other TRA functions to plan TRA presence at trade shows, MP engagement sessions and other business-focused events.

**Person specification**:
We’re looking for an outgoing, confident self-starter who is used to working within a small, hands-on team. You will be team-oriented and great with people, comfortable interacting with colleagues at all levels and engaging with technical specialists and generalists alike.

You will need to be a great organiser, keen to take the initiative with strong attention to detail. You will be able to produce accurate, engaging content which can be quickly absorbed and understood by others.

This is a fast-paced environment, so you will need to be a calm, unflappable person who is able to adapt quickly to new challenges and urgent priorities. And importantly you are someone who is willing to learn and try new things to develop your skills and capabilities.

To be successful in this role applicants should demonstrate the following:
**Essential** criteria:

- Previous relevant experience in a communications role in private, public or not for profit sectors;
- Good standard of verbal and writing skills;
- Good IT literacy - you’re comfortable using the standard office software and confident familiarising yourself with new platforms such as SharePoint-based intranets and WordPress blog sites;
- Digital (social media, digital, video experience).

**Desirable** criteria:

- Writing communications materials for a range of audiences and channels;
- Managing social media channels;
- Creating communications products using standard software packages and tools;
- Events management.

**Behaviours**:
We'll assess you against these behaviours during the selection process:
