**Job Purpose**

Based in the Rabbits room
- babies from (4 months-24months) The Early Years Practitioner will deliver the highest quality of care and education in line with YMCA’s Early Years Pedagogy and Curriculum, the “YMCA Way” and Ofsted regulations. They will inspire children’s development by providing exciting, child-led, play-based activities utilising the outdoors wherever possible. Every YMCA nursery has a quality plan and the postholder will be expected to assist in identifying areas of development to help the nursery achieve and sustain an Ofsted Outstanding grade.

**Main Duties & Responsibilities**
- Provide indoor and outdoor play-based experiences to children in line with YMCA’s pedagogy and curriculum, and in adherence to nursery policies and procedures.
- Plan, implement and monitor activities suitable for children under 5, under the supervision and direction of the Lead Practitioner.
- Help maintain the safety, security, physical and emotional welfare of the children in the nursery and garden environments.
- Follow YMCA’s policies and procedures at all times, including but not restricted to: staff ratios, safeguarding and child protection, and health & safety, escalating concerns immediately to the Lead Practitioner or nursery Manager
- Positively engage with the nursery team, parents and carers, and wider YMCA teams.
- To attend training sessions and staff meetings as necessary

**Person Specification & Key Competencies**

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Level 3 childcare qualification or relevant experience and willingness to train.
- An understanding of the developmental needs of children.
- Basic knowledge of health and safety.
- Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding good practice.
- Paediatric First Aid qualification or willingness to train.

- Ability to make activities fun.
- Ability to communicate with children and parents.
- Can remain child-focussed in a busy environment.

**Salary**: £19,760.00-£22,960.00 per year
