The Patient Pathway Co-ordinator (PPC) facilitates the smooth running of patient journeys by ensuring that there are coordinated and streamlined administrative processes that revolve around the patient and their individual needs.

The PPC is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient management of the patient administrative processes throughout their pathway; giving the patient a single point of contact, ensuring that the patient and carer experience is central to every stage of the patient journey, and ensuring potential breaches of RTT (referral to treatment) waiting times targets are avoided or escalated to the relevant manager. The PPC works closely with the relevant MDT coordinators, patient booking team and clinic teams to ensure patients are being managed and tracked proactively. This includes supporting data quality, validation and ensuring all patients have recorded pathway start dates.

The PPC is the key provider of medical secretarial services and administrative support to the clinical teams including the timely typing and turnaround of patient letters.
- Efficient turnaround of clinic and patient letters including editing and typing as and when required within remit.
- Providing high quality secretarial support to Oncology Consultants and their
- Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families
- Leading on managing key relationships with outside stakeholders i.e. GP’s, other Trusts, on behalf of Consultants and team
- Audio/Script transcription of clinic letters and other patient related information to appropriate recipients, such as GPs as well as other Consultants within and outside of the organisation
- Audio/Script transcription of all Consultant and medical team correspondence as necessary
