Search Consultancy are currently recruiting for a client based in East Kilbride who requires a Health and Safety Coordinator. The main function of this role will be to provide support to the Health, Safety & Environment Advisor with wider site presence inpromoting a strong health and safety culture through a hands-on approach to campus safety.
Your main duties will include ensuring that all Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated; ensuring that safety inspections are carried out and providing regular reports tothe Head of Facilities and/or HSE Adviser on relevant health and safety activities.
**The successful applicant must be a member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) and have relevant experience in a similar role in addition to a working knowledge of health and safety legislation.**
Key responsibilities
- Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health.
- Ensure that all Health & Safety policies are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
- Ensure that the College meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
- Conduct daily safety walks, identifying health and safety risks, reporting in a timely manner and ensuring corrective actions have been completed.
- Ensure the completion and review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.
- Ensure that all accidents are documented, investigated and recommended improvements implemented.
- Ensure that safety inspections are carried out, fire drills and fire alarms are correctly reported, safety inspections and lone working procedures are managed and employees are aware of their responsibilities.
- Maintain and monitor the COSHH register.
- Keep up to date with all aspects of relevant health, safety & welfare at work legislation and communicate relevant changes to the business.
- Provide regular reports to the Head of Facilities/ HSE Advisor
Skills required
- Experience of ensuring adherence and reviewing of H&S policies and procedures.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Microsoft experience essential
- COSHH trained
Salary
£24582 per annum
