Job Introduction **Role Of The Job**We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Assistant to work with the newly created Empty Homes team within Strategic Housing.The role will be working as part of a dedicated Empty Homes Team in Blyth, supporting the team to bring long-term and problematic empty properties back into use. The role will involve supporting the team to engage with property owners, community groups and stakeholders in the area along with working closely alongside the private sector housing officers to promote good practice in the private rented sector and assisting with the wider Blyth regeneration scheme.We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic person who is a great team player, with good organisational and IT skills to provide technical and administrative support for the dedicated empty homes team. The role will require excellent communication skills, IT skills and the ability to understand and develop the use of IT software systems to achieve work objectives and effectively support the team. The postholder will be based in the Blyth area, working with community groups and other stakeholders in the area to contribute to the overall regeneration and improvement of the area.The post holder will be supporting the officers with administrative duties relating to a range of legislative areas in relation to empty homes. The role will include facilitating and supporting events and community engagement and required to effectively respond to and deal with routine written, telephone, electronic and personal service enquiries from members of the public, professionals and other interested parties. The postholder will be committed to the primary council objectives to ensure that a customer focused service is provided, and that service delivery is to the highest standards of customer care and quality.The post holder will be working in a newly set up small team for a 2-year fixed term contract and will be working closely with other council services like planning, environmental health and building control. The team will work with colleagues within the Housing Service, in other divisions of the Council and external agencies, actively supporting cross cutting projects as and when required, seeking to positively contribute and technical support for area-based initiatives.

**Requirements Of the Job**
- The post holder will need to be proactive in the role and have excellent communication skills.
- Have experience in IT and administrative duties to support the team to source suitable solutions in bringing properties back into use.
- Work within a dedicated resource to work intensively in a specific area as part of a targeted approach bringing empty homes back into use.
- Provide technical and administrative support to the team using a range of initiatives through voluntary and enforcement action to achieve the desired results.
