Introduction to the role and about you
The role will support you to learn how to provide a comprehensive onsite maintenance service to all Orchard Care Homes within your specified region. Working in the Home environment, you will interact with all colleagues and residents, ensuring that your aligned Orchard Care Homes are kept in good condition both inside and out.
To achieve your Level 2 Apprenticeship as a Facilities Services Operative, you will complete 10 modules across 12 months covering areas such as Health & Safety policy, risk and hazard management, how to maintain Facilities Management (FM) services and delivering FM projects.
Alongside hands on support from our experienced team, this is an in depth course will give you all the skills you need to start your career as a maintenance operative. Once you have completed your course, you will continue in your position and begin your exciting career with Orchard Care Homes.
To be considered for this role, you must have a valid UK drivers’ licence and be willing to complete a level 1 or 2 in Maths and English.
Main duties
Liaise with Home Manager ensuring the care home is maintained in good decorative order, the Orchard environment is comfortable, friendly and has a ‘homely’ feel for the residents.
Work as part of the wider regional team, contributing to team meetings and helping colleagues as appropriate. Ensure that Orchard Care Homes is a friendly, supportive and caring environment.
Carry out general repairs to the homes (inside and outside) that are within the individual’s area, complying with Orchard Care Home’s policies and procedures manual.
Understand and meet statutory and legal requirements such as Food Safety, Health and Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety and to maintain a safe environment throughout the care home.
Carry out regular safety checks (including fire) as identified in the maintenance check list, keeping accurate, up to date records of the checks.
Report any deficiencies that are out of the scope of this role to the Home Manager and Estates Team and follow these up.
Respect residents at all times, especially their individual right to privacy, dignity and choice, incorporating residents’ needs and requirements into your work routine so that Orchard Care Home is a pleasant & safe place to both live and work.

Help the Regional Maintenance Managers in your region manage and control the maintenance program for your area.
