We are currently looking for an Administrator to join our medical records team at our Shepton Mallet Hospital.
As a Patient Administrator at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Shepton Mallet you will provide a comprehensive administration and receptionist service to the unit ensuring that all patients are treated in a professional and courteous manner, endorsing the patient centred approach of the team.

**What you'll be doing**:
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to stay calm in difficult circumstances. Just as important though is your flexibility, belief in teamwork and your ability to use your initiative, follow instructions and prioritise a busy workload.
- Provide an efficient and effective reception service to patients, staff and visitors. To meet and greet all arrivals in a professional and customer/patient centred approach in line with the customer service standards of Practice Plus Group.
- To answer telephone calls from patients, GP surgeries and other hospital staff on all aspects relating to booking appointments. To distribute calls and messages, using a PBX/ switchboard.
- Provide advice in all matters relating to patient’s appointments, both by telephone and face to face.
- To contact patients before attendance in order to set expectations around waiting times.
- To contact patients on internal waiting lists to offer earlier appointments
- To be responsible for booking patient transport as requested, to call taxis for patients or visitors
- To process and manage referrals in order to meet the requirements of Practice Plus Group performance objectives.
- To book theatre and outpatient sessions within strict booking guidelines adhering to breach dates and ensuring optimal utilisation of clinic lists.

**Ideally you will have**:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to deal with difficult situations in a calm manner
- Good keyboard/computer skills
- Good skills using Patient Administration System (PAS) or equivalent systems
- Conversant with Microsoft Office packages
- Ability to plan and prioritise own workload when under pressure
- Able to use initiative, and plan workload, ability to work flexibly
