**What’s the purpose of role**:
Using the relevant company and customer purchasing and inventory systems, as materials controller you will be responsible for ensuring that all materials are ordered and effectively managed within the required timescales meeting internal and external customer requirement, specifications and schedules.
**Who you’ll deal with**:
Internal: Colleagues, Line manager, Support functions External: Customers, Suppliers, Auditors, HMRC
**What you’ll be doing**:
- Internal and external customer and supplier liaison ensuring correspondence surrounding departmental tasks are communicated and articulated in an appropriate manner
- Process all duty free and duty paid deliveries into the warehouse, ensuring all documentation is controlled and maintained in accordance with departmental processes
- Process orders and returns for both internal and external customers ensuring documentation is controlled and filed in accordance with departmental processes
- Management of all documentation and processes in accordance with HM Revenue & Customs, CAA and company requirements
- Management and maintenance of all customer portals including stock submissions and confirmations upon receipt.
- Keep the operation informed on product issues and set up par levels.
- Keeping HMRC updated on the inventory status and ullage notifications.
- Carry out investigations into delivery failures and put corrective actions into place
- Carry out stock takes as necessary and use information to manage ordering levels and prevent shortages
- Liaise with the operations regarding menu and product changes promptly
- Ensure any quality issues are resolved with mínimal impact on the customer
- Ensure period end stock takes are correctly completed and entered onto SAP
- Ensure all goods are received in line with due diligence and compliance targets
- Auditing deliveries to ensure all Compliance standards are met as defined by the Vendor Rating System.
- Ensuring Security processes are maintained so that security of equipment, personnel and stock may be assured.
- Ensuring that “Housekeeping” activities are undertaken as required
- Designing, monitoring and reviewing plans to implement changes to customer requirements.
- Receipting delivery of orders and ensure good stock rotation to prevent product expiry
- Ensuring packing operatives have the correct stock available
This list is not exhaustive, accountabilities may vary dependant on locality or role complexity and may include any other duties considered reasonable by the line manager.
**What you'll have**:
- Experience of purchasing and inventory management within a fast moving and changing work environment such as FMCG or manufacturing
- Ability to plan, organise and delegate effectively, with attention to detail working in a methodical and logical style
- Ability to deliver as directed within set targets with an understanding of cost and control management
- Ability to multi-task in a pressured environment and work to tight deadlines
- Demonstrate effective communication skills and be able to communicate effectively at all levels with good verbal and written English
- Demonstrate the drive to operate to the highest of standards especially during periods of change
- Ability to solve problems, generate innovative solutions and make justified decisions that influence key stakeholders
- Flexibility to work outside of normal working pattern to cover when required
- Knowledge of SAP WM and MM, WMS, EMCS and Cbase (ideal)
**What’s Special about the role**:
The main focus of the role of Materials Controller is the control of product quantities in line with requirements to avoid substitutions and wastage. A transactional role focused on the accuracy of stock levels and timely task completion. Direction and guidance easily accessible via the line manager. Will be required to interact with the team, colleagues from other process areas, suppliers and customers.
