**Job Title**:Senior Support Worker

**Reports To**: Service Manager

Acadability, Alexandria has a new opportunity for a full-time senior support worker, this is a permanent post and will be paid at £11.50 per hour.

**Purpose**:
To safeguard and promote the welfare of service users to ensure that the quality of Support provided is consistent with organisational values, SSSC Codes of Practice and Health and Social Care Standards My Life My Way. To assist in the service and maintenance of a competent, motivated, and confident staff team and to offer leadership, managerial direction, guidance, and support. To support the development and delivery of outcome-based support planning that is reflective of service users’ needs. To observe, audit and review quality of service and report changes in need or concerns to line management.
Main Duties
- Ensure a consistent high quality of care and support is delivered in line with the requirements of the commissioners of the service and the main regulatory bodies.
- Ensure that service users are enabled to fully participate in decisions affecting their lives as much as possible, embracing the philosophy of person-centred planning to ensure all options are explored to have service user’s decisions/choices met.
- Promote the values of the organisation to ensure these are reflected in all areas of staff practice.
- Develop and promote a continuous learning and development culture across the service, ensuring all staff receive appropriate training, supervision, and performance appraisals.
- Audit and monitor all areas of systems and practice on a regular basis or as directed by the service Manager.
- Create and maintain a safe, friendly, and welcoming environment.
- Create clear and effective lines of communication with families, other professionals and agencies involved in the support of service users.
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with staff, service users’ families, and stakeholders.
- Attend meetings as appropriate and represent the service as required.
- Maintain a consistent management approach within the service by ensuring that all staff have a working knowledge of organisational policies and procedures, and their practice reflects this.
- Keep abreast of new and developing legislation in the field of Learning Disabilities and Mental Health to ensure personal professional competency and that of staff is developed and maintained.

Training and Supervision
- You will participate in any training relevant to your role and/or development needs.
- You will have the opportunity to be involved in team and individual supervision and appraisal and you will make yourself available for such sessions.
- You will participate in Team Planning and Team Building.
- You will take personal responsibility for putting your training and supervision into practice and for advising your line manager of any training need.

Organisational Responsibilities
- You will always adhere to Academy House Policies and Procedures.
- You will attend staff supervisions and team meetings as per organisational policy.
- You will maintain a safe working environment ensuring your own personal safety and the safety of others. In addition, you will ensure that all staff for whom you are responsible for as well as any visitors to the services always adhere to health and safety guidance.
- You will communicate clearly with colleagues so that our services operate effectively.

Personal Responsibilities
- You will promote and display the values of the organisation within your everyday practice.
- You will encourage positive attitudes toward the people we support.
- You will ensure that no action or omission on your part is detrimental to the interests, condition, or safety of the people we support or the staff for whom you are responsible.
- You will work in a flexible way recognising the individual needs of the people we support.
- You will provide shift cover if required.
- You will always represent the organisation in a positive manner.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: £11.50 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Alexandria: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- providing care: 1 year (preferred)
- supervisory: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- Driving Licence (preferred)
- NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care (preferred)
