**JOB PURPOSE**

To provide technical support to the School of Healthcare Sciences

**MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Key Duties**
- Ensure teaching and simulation facilities are maintained through cleaning and undertaking routine care of area, machinery and equipment, ensuring adequate security and stock is distributed as required
- Ensure teaching and simulation facilities are prepared for use by others, by issuing equipment to staff and students and provide guidance on its use and preparing and clearing away as required, checking on satisfactory operation of the equipment (e.g. PAT Testing)
- Deal with simple and routine enquires from internal and external customers in a professional manner, following established procedures, referring complex enquires to relevant staff members, ensuring all relevant facts and information needed is recorded and passed on
- Assist in the maintenance of routine records, updating databases as required.
- Work on own initiative using creativity to complete set tasks ensuring standard guidelines and procedures are adhered to, recognising when to refer a problem to others.
- Participate actively within the work team, setting an example and showing a flexible approach to delivering team results

**Specific Duties**
- Assist in providing a service to staff and students by delivering, setting up, tearing down technology, simulation technology, and equipment within the School of Healthcare Sciences, reporting problems to senior members of the team.
- Provide manual assistance in moving equipment from one location to another, and set up rooms for teaching securely and safely.
- At certain times of year, to work flexible hours in order to ensure that cover is available for teaching taking place outside of normal office hours.

**Essential Criteria**

**Qualifications and Education**
- Basic Numeracy and Literacy (for example NVQ 1/GCSE level D-G)

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**
- Experience of using and maintaining equipment
- Experience of using IT packages including Microsoft Office 365

**Customer Service, Communication and Team Working**
- Ability to deal with customers and other employees in a professional manner
- Evidence of working well as an effective team member, providing advice and guidance to other team members where necessary
- Ability to deal promptly, effectively and courteously with requests for information or services

**Planning, Analysis and Problem Solving**
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently within set procedures/practices

**Other**
- A willingness to undertake further training and development

**Desirable Criteria**
- NVQ 2 or GCSE’s at A - C, or equivalent
- Experience of working in a Higher Education environment
- Experience of working or volunteering in a teaching and/or technical support environment
- Fluency in Welsh, written and oral
