Kenyon International, leaders in crisis management, incident response and disaster recovery are looking for a Head of Humanitarian Services to sit within their Bracknell based Operations Team. You will be primarily focused on the development and delivery of Kenyon’s portfolio of humanitarian services and support the broader activities of the Operations Team. This position reports directly to the Vice President Global Response and it may involve both domestic and international travel, based on business activities. The role requires a self-starter, who needs little day-to-day supervision, with an ability to research solutions and solve problems. There also may be a requirement to deploy to incidents and, if required, be able to operate as a Senior Incident Director.

Responsible for Kenyon’s Disaster Human Services Program, which seeks to assist organisations and governments in managing the immediate and longer-term consequences for families who have experienced loss as a result of an incident, you will develop, expand, maintain and deliver Kenyon’s family assistance services in support of clients, as well as providing training and development for staff, contractors and clients in the area of family assistance.

Kenyon’s family assistance operations include, but may not be limited to; training Special Assistance Team Members and leadership in the field; developing and administering Family Assistance or Evacuation Centres; developing and managing a network of mental health professionals; providing extensive resources to meet child care, cultural and faith requirements; coordination with various parties, including governments, their departments and NGOs, to provide information and guidance to families and those affected by disasters or otherwise catastrophic events.

**You will**:

- Plan, implement and direct Kenyon’s international family assistance operations, policies, procedures, objectives and initiatives.
- Determine business requirements and coordinate with available resources to achieve success within the time, cost and quality constraints.
- Be fully accountable for the development and management of operational budgets.
- Develop an annual plan of action for family assistance operations with supporting budget.
- Provide consultation to government, business, medical and educational organisations for disaster and family assistance programs.
- Share extensive knowledge of Kenyon policies and procedures used during deployments to include financial, administrative and Team Member management policies, particularly SOPs and processes related to Family Assistance Centre management.
- Develop new standards of care/support for families experiencing disasters and catastrophic events via research/practice, including developing/managing new services.
- Be accountable for maintaining the newly established safeguarding standards.
- Support technical working groups and committees that relate to Kenyon operations.
- Maintain knowledge of international laws / organisations that may affect family assistance.
- Deploy to incidents if required to deliver, and potentially lead, family assistance services.
- Assist with conferences, symposiums & meetings for activities operational in scope.
- Work with the Product Development Manager to improve and maintain the quality of internal and external Kenyon training programs relating to family assistance services.
- Act as lead trainer for family assistance and train-the-trainer programs (methods include classroom, practical exercises and online learning platforms).
- Assist with the recruitment and training of Team Members.
- Be a thought leader within Humanitarian Services.
- Support the Operations Team in development and delivery of all of Kenyon’s services.

**What we are looking for**:

- A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field, or equivalent work experience in managing a Special Assistance Team or otherwise in the fields of social work or mental health services.
- Experience working with families in crisis.
- Evidence of ongoing education / further development in family assistance.
- Extensive experience of successfully operating at a strategic / expert level, providing specialist guidance and advice to influence others in support of operational and strategic planning.
- An ability and willingness to travel, potentially globally, if required for operational response.
- Training and development skills.
- An ability to produce worksheets, documents and presentations using Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint with a high standard of both written and spoken English.
- An ability to develop, coach and train others in family assistance and to manage resources.
- A flexible approach and the ability to work sometimes long hours during deployments.
- The flexibility to work in the office, home, warehouse or disaster field environments.
- A proactive, assertive team player.
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
