Nottingham High School is an independent co-educational day school with approximately 1,180 pupils aged between 4 and 18. This newly created role of Human Resources Manager is an important addition to our
Support Services teams.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Position: Head of Human Resources

Place of work: Nottingham High School

Responsible for: 2 Direct Reports

**Primary Purpose**:
The Head of HR will be required to lead in all things HR related for the benefit of all those in the School community supporting us in being an employer of choice. They will have an opportunity to set the strategic lead on all matters HR related and make a real difference to the School’s HR provision. Being both operational and strategic in their role, monitoring and reviewing the School’s HR strategy, advising, and assisting the
Head and DFO in all aspects of HR including Training and Development, Resourcing and Employee Relations.
Compliance with safer recruitment and the Independent Schools Inspectorate is required at all times.

**Principal Objectives**:
1. Lead the Nottingham High School HR function to deliver high quality HR solutions and processes to meet the continuously changing needs of the School. Delivering new ideas and requirements to the SMT and for Governor review.

2. To provide HR guidance and advice to managers and their teams, on employment law and legislation, best practice. Advising and supporting on a wide range of HR issues, including, contracts, discipline, capability, absence and grievance, as well as attendance at meetings.

3. Lead an effective recruitment, onboarding, induction and probation review of teaching and support staff, volunteers and trustees, at all times. Ensure compliance with safer recruitment and safeguarding procedures.

4. Ensure all Governor recruitment and onboarding records are accurate and maintained.

5. Ensure the Single Central Register is maintained and accurate at all times.

6. Develop & ensure that HR policies and procedures are appropriate, compliant with relevant regulations including Keeping Children Safe in Education, up-to-date and adhered to.

7. Develop a staff wellbeing programme.

8. Maintain all systems with relevant HR data (ISAMs, VW Plus, TES Pulse, PMI Data, Group Life

Data), ensuring record keeping is appropriate, up to date and compliant with GDPR.

9. Strengthen and lead the school’s performance development agenda, including performance management, staff development, continuous improvement processes and succession planning.
Manage the School’s Apprenticeship Levy Fund and apprenticeship training programmes as required.

10. Manage and deliver the HR information needed for a timely and accurate payroll process including ownership and management of the staff benefits and welfare provision.

11. Design and implement an annual salary review process for support staff.

12. Prepare and issue fit for purpose contracts for all roles and ensure all staff have up to date job descriptions.

13. To oversee attendance management in School, supporting staff and promoting staff welfare.

Lead responsibility for Occupational Health and Counselling referrals.

14. Manage and deliver a robust training process for all staff in line with Regulations and the needs of the School.

15. Ensure all staff on maternity, paternity, shared parental leave, adoption leave have access to support and guidance and ensure they are paid correctly.

16. Manage our staff survey providing analysis & reporting to Senior Management.

17. Prepare and report on the Gender Pay Gap.

18. Provide reporting on HR and Compliance KPIs in order to drive and inform business decisions.

19. Line manage the HR Assistant and Compliance Officer.

20. Carry out any other task or duties deemed reasonable by the line manager.
