This newly created post as Team Lead in Obstetric theatres is open to registered Nurses & ODPs with a minimum of 2 years post graduate experience in this speciality.

Demonstrate at least one area of advanced practice or commence advanced training within 6 months. Where required, practice as a Surgical First Assistant.

Required to participate in the provision of a 24 hour theatre service, taking charge of the department outside normal working hours. Having responsibility for the safe running of the Obstetric theatre and theatre department as required.

All duties will be performed in accordance with agreed policies and procedures, with the maintenance and development of Standard operating procedures relevant to this speciality.

Liaising with other multidisciplinary teams including clinicians, ward staff and departments for the needs of the patient timely treatment.

Take part, lead and delegate in all of the 5 Steps to Surgery Safety checks in a timely manner ensuring required staffing, investigation results, checks and handover documentation are in place.

Additional requirements of the role include development, monitoring and audit of a training package in support of PROMPT for all theatre personel, updating and feedback through Audit & governance meetings.

Plan, implement and assess patient care working as a flexible theatre practitioner in full support of the theatre team. Documentation is completed accurately, legibly, and confidentiality is maintained. Performing operating department duties in accordance with agreed policies and procedures including the safe administration and storage of drugs within the department.

Participate in the provision of 24hr cover of the department and when required participate in the interdepartmental rotation within skills within your scope of practice.

Maintaining of good, communication and teamwork with all disciplines within the department and in the hospital.

Participate in the training and development of junior staff.

Take part, Lead and delegate in all of the 5 Steps to Surgery Safety checks in a timely manner ensuring required staffing, investigation results, checks and handover documentation is in place.

Provide training & technical support to enable full use of the relevant systems & equipment.

Develop, monitor & audit a training package in support of PROMPT for all theatre personel

Attend Audit / Governance meetings as required

Problem solve as necessary to ensure the safe and effective patient care delivery, escalating if difficulties arise.
