**Your new role**:
A newly created opportunity has arisen for a qualified Accountant to join a well known business based in Darlington. Working in an experienced Finance team, you will be reporting into the Group Finance Manager and supporting with a wide range of duties.
**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Preparing and analysing group monthly management accounts for all payroll categories.
- Line manager responsibility to include management and development of 2 Assistant Accountants.
- Acting as key point of contact for external audit.
- Year-end planning, preparation of audit requests and balance sheet review.
- Preparing the consolidated statutory accounts and subsidiary accounts.
- Providing financial insight and decision support to senior stakeholders, analysing and interpreting business performance KPI's.
- Supporting budget holders with preparation, monitoring and reporting on performance against budget, investigating and commenting on variances.
- Taking ownership and responsibility for the review and analysis of the Group's payroll costs advising on monthly changes, variances to budget and ad-hoc commentary.
- Preparing monthly reports to the operations team to aid in the delivery of key targets knowledge needed to make operational and business decisions.
- Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations.
- Providing ongoing financial support to senior stakeholders with ad hoc analysis to support decision making.

**You will be/have**:

- ACCA or CIMA Qualified or almost qualified.
- Competent with management, financial and statutory accounts and have some experience in audit too.
- Advanced Excel skills - able to interpret large data sets.
- Strong analysis skills.
- Experienced in people management or a desire to do so.
- Strong communication skills.
