£23,484 - £25,927 per annum + Exceptional Benefits Package**

We are looking for a **Facilities Support and Estates Technician** to come and work with us on an **18 month fixed term contract** to support the upkeep of the Service Headquarters site and other premises within the Devon & Somerset Fire Authority's portfolio. This will include caretaking duties, minor building maintenance and all grounds maintenance.You will ensure sites are maintained to a high standard of tidiness, cleanliness and safety.
**Duties will include**:
- Minor repairs to furniture, fixtures and fittings including assembly of flat-pack equipment.
- Being a point of contact for third party building contractors and completion of associated documentation.
- General upkeep of the sites, maintaining tidiness and site security of all public/staff areas and ensuring walkways are clear from restrictions, and safe to use throughout the year.
- Building maintenance including unblocking drains, re-glazing doors, windows and panels, lock repairs, roof repairs, repointing works, kitchen refits, window fitting and general carpentry tasks. You will also work with colleagues to identify procurementrequirements and costings.
- Assisting with site recycling, cleaning waste collections and pest control contracts.
- Maintain the Technicians store including good housekeeping and stock control of materials and keep records of work carried out on electric tools and equipment.
- Assist in rubbish segregation and skip monitoring to maintain a good waste recycling and removal programme.
- Grounds maintenance including; trimming hedges, digging, weeding, planting and related tasks.
- Providing assistance to Corporate Support inc. setting up meeting rooms, providing transportation for visitors and an emergency courier service.
**Skills you must demonstrate**:
- Proven ability in general building work including repairs and maintenance.
- IT literacy inc. Microsoft Office.
- Comfortable performing manual tasks both indoors and outdoors.
- Ability to prioritise workload.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in your work.
- Willingness to undertake further training.
- Flexibility and ability to work outside standard hours.
**Qualifications and Certifications**:
- Good working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and relevant construction legislation to include PUWER, Safe Systems of Work, Manual Handling, COSH, PPE and Risk Assessments
- Relevant qualification in a construction related discipline e.g. building, plumbing, bricklaying, painting and decorating or at least 3 years' experience in a similar role.
- Clean driving licence with a willingness to travel throughout Devon & Somerset.
