As **Academy Support Technician** you will provide logístical support to the Training Rescue Function at Service Training Academy, Exeter Airport / Service Headquarters, as well as undertaking general preparation of training scenarios and supportduring training exercises, maintenance of equipment and vehicles and driver duties including LGV.
**As an Academy Support Technician, you will be responsible for**:
- Providing logístical support at training centres and undertaking preparation of scenarios used in training exercises.
- Maintenance of equipment, plus vehicles and driver duties, including LGV vehicles.
- Assisting with the preparation of training exercises and their safety, plus subsequent maintenance and stowage after training events.
- Carrying out maintenance of designated training equipment, including standard testing.
- Using service vehicles, including LGVs and trailers, to perform various duties, including the collection and delivery of training resources.
- Assisting with site security.
- Carrying out maintenance of grounds and facilities at training sites.
- Maintaining the inventory of training equipment.
- Training new and temporary members of support staff as required.
**About You**
Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service is searching for a proactive, skilled individual, equally adept at working in a team or using their own initiative.
The ideal Academy Support Technician will:
- Display proven ability to undertake technical maintenance work and small tool servicing.
- Prove they can complete tasks to given timescales.
- Set up computers for training events.
- Be able to carry out small DIY jobs.
- Have good written and oral communication skills.
- Hold a current driving licence, including LGV licence, and will be able to undertake a driver assessment.
- Prove their ability to drive through various locations in the Devon and Somerset area.
