**Volunteering with Victim Support in Kent**
As a Volunteer in **Kent**your role will include:
- Supporting victims of crime in our multi-crime service specialising in Domestic Abuse support
- Supporting victims either face to face or over the telephone to assist them in accessing services to keep them and their family safe. It will involve developing individual safety plans to meet client’s needs as identified in the needs and risk assessment.
- You will provide advocacy, emotional and practical support and information to victims including exploration of legal and civil options, housing, health and finance and support clients through the criminal justice system.
- Work alongside our dedicated Volunteer and Community Engagement Manager and Caseworkers to provide a client-led service
- Providing the validation, reflect and inform elements of our service framework
- Monthly social events as well as invitation to further presentations with existing multi-agency partners.
**What do we ask of you?**
In order to join us as a Domestic Abuse Service Volunteer, you must:
- Be 18 years of age or over.
- Be able to volunteer for at least 3 hours per week, for at least 12 months.
- Undertake training over a 12-week period - this includes nine virtual training days as well as completing a workbook and online learning modules.
- Undertake an enhanced DBS check & be part of the DBS update service.
- Be able to provide two satisfactory references.
**Expenses**
- All Victim Support volunteers are entitled to out-of-pocket expenses incurred whilst volunteering, including travel and lunch.
