The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Patient Liaison Officer will lead on issues relating to patients’ equality, diversity and inclusion within the Trust and will support the Head of Patient Experience & Engagement to monitor and improve standards within clinical practice.
The post holder will work as part of the Patient Experience team to support Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust staff to understand and undertake equality, diversity and inclusion responsibilities benefitting their patients.
The post holder will work autonomously on equality, diversity and inclusion projects within the Patient Experience & Engagement Strategy and work collaboratively across other disciplines and agencies within both the Trust and community settings.
- Work across the Trust as part of the Patient Experience team, in order to ensure Trust staff are supported to undertake their equality, diversity and inclusion responsibilities towards patients.
- Initiate developments under the supervision of the Head of Patient Experience & Engagement to ensure that the Trust meets its statutory requirements surrounding equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Develop key performance indicators of the current interpretation and translation requests and work with wards/departments to develop innovative alternatives using technology solutions where possible to improve translation services.
- Lead the development and implementation of the Accessible Information Standard (AIS), ensuring that the requirements are embedded across the Trust and there is evidence of compliance across all areas according to standards.
- Maintain good working relationships and communication with wards/departments, ensuring an efficient and patient centred service is provided.

- Act as a resource and point of contact for advice and support to Trust staff to implement equality, diversity and inclusion in practice and legislation
- Develop and review appropriate policies and guidance alongside the Head of Patient Experience & Engagement.
- Develop and maintain accurate records in accordance with Trust policy.
- Assist in the collection, collation and analysis of equality, diversity and inclusion data.
- Attend meetings within the Trust and external to the Trust to share information and maintain adequate communication.
- Establish links and work collaboratively with all staff networks
- Work collaboratively with HR colleagues on the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion agenda.
- Lead on the work required and develop processes and Policies to ensure Transgender patients are able to access Healthcare and make informed decisions.
